I'm all in favor of eliminating tenure, imagine the fun we as workers would have if we couldn't be terminated for our behavior just because we made it past the probation period. Thanks Ed, my sentiments exactly.

Robert, he is a pain in their butt but the teachers union's worst nightmare is about parents who have actually taught their kids how to think!

I work in a high school and I WISH there were enough concerned parents that taught their kids how to think!
One little shit (a junior) actually asked the teacher today if Nixon was impeached!!!
Out of 3 classes I work in, only 5 parents showed up for teacher confirence day. It's pretty damn pathetic.

As I've said before at college events where the enlightened would not allow the benighted to speak: once you've registered your protest, prove your manners by sitting down and shutting up.

Maeve, teaching to think means more than teaching a bunch of facts. Thinking entails questioning what is proposed to one as fact. For example, "as a member of society one must accept joint responsibility for all of the ills of society." I got kicked out of a sociology 101 class one time because I refused to accept this premise and questioned, why?

Kids who question such premises are nightmares to many of the left wing educational system because they refuse to accept the standard pat answers that defies logic.

I taught computers in a California Jr. High School for 3 years in the late 80's. There were probably 40 teachers at the school I was at. I would say the number of them that I would call a good teacher...........one. As for the rest, most weren't even good babysitters. What a freak show it was !

Yeah Robert, I did the cooperate and graduate bit to get a teachers certificate over 20 years ago. The last semester required a practise teaching session. How do you teach a teenager who can't read? And even worse, how do you get it across to the administration in the school that the little shits can't read? I took my diploma and came back to the republik of Florida and went into business for myself. I was a good academic instructor but that is a hell of a lot different from trying to get something across to kids who not only don't care to learn, they don't even want to be there.

As long as he has a fucking "R" next to his name, they'll direct their "Hate Bush Faith" towards him. Seriously, it's become an alternative to conventional religion for these people. I wasn't too happy with Clinton, and regard him and his former underlings as treasonous scum, but I'm not about take an entire weekend off just to hold up a retarded sign with his picture with a Hitler mustache on it, and scream like a fucking insane crackhead.

You really have to wonder where all this will end. The Democrats appear to be really getting odd.

With a union, any union (I was reared in a union family) it's always about the money for the top wheels anyway. I'll bet that the top 100 people in the teachers union each make more (salary + kickbacks) per year than the president of the United States.
