self-esteem

Schools teach a lot of “self esteem” today, even to people who don’t deserve any, and the schools think they’re doing a good job. I don’t. Too many kids today have an overabundance of self-esteem and a total lack of self control.

In the old days, teaching self-control was called “discipline,” but that term has fallen by the wayside in modern society. It sounds too military and war-like to be applied to children. I call bullshit on that idea and I speak from 53 years of experience.

I don’t mouth off at cops. I don’t cuss ’em and I DAMN SURE don’t try to fight ’em. I do what the man says and keep my pie-hole shut during the process, except for an occasional “yes, sir” or “no, ma’am.” As a result, I’ve beguiled my way out of going to jail several times in my life. I wasn’t always happy with the way I was treated, but I knew that the alternative was worse. I made my choice.

I showed some self-control.

Do you notice how anxious leftists are to excuse ANY kind of dumbass behavior by a complete idiot by blaming it on some kind of outside influence rather than the person who actually DID the dumbass thing? This story is a perfect example. There IS NO EXCUSE for a 15 year-old boy to attack a 66 year-old school bus driver. That’s pathetic, in MY humble opinion, and look at the parents trying to excuse the behavior.

No wonder the kid acts like a rotten thug.

I see kids like that every day and I want to have their parents dragged off and shot. You are doing no child any favor if you teach them that the sun rises and sets right square in the crack of their little asses and actions NEVER have any serious consequences. You raise punks, criminals and cop-killers that way.

But they’ll be FULL of self-esteem.

Precisely why I'm not a bus driver, Give that man a cigar and a medal. Now let's prosecute those irresponsible parents for not doing their job.

No shit. That is exactly what I thought when I read about the parents defending the little thug. I'd have blistered his little ass for being disrespectful to the bus driver. What a sorry excuse for parents.

AS the resident young'n here (I'm 20) let me say that you have never been more correct. Schools and teachers are slaves to self-esteem. We had bully-free days, where no one was allowed to say anything disparaging to anyone else. Instead of teaching that "not everyone is going to like you" the lesson is that "everyone must like you". Pride in self is one thing, but self esteem is bull shit. I'd rather have pride I earned than that crap that is given to me.

Thank God my parents are more 'old school' than the parents of my friends. I know words like 'sir' and 'ma'am' and other basic manners.

Sorry for rambling, A-man.

The father acknowledged on Today that the boys could have been calmer on the bus, but that the punishment doesn't fit the crime.

He's right, it doesn't. What should've happened is the bus driver should have been able to knock the shit out of both of them and then thrown their asses off the bus.

Case fucking closed.

Way to go Mom and Dad! Congratulations on COMPLETELY ignoring the problem!

Enjoy sitting in court in a few years when the little bastards (both figuratively and literally - based on the names) are chronologically adults and charged with: rape, assault, manslaughter, DUI, etc.

I'll bet you'll blame the police, the girl, the dead guy, etc. then too.

Do us all a favor and get sterilized before you squeeze out any more of the little darlings....

First I'd take a hickory switch and beat the two little punks until they said "Thank you sir ! May I have another ! " and meant it. The I'd take a big goddam stick and do the same to the parents right after I had them sterilized and lobotomized. Finally, I would buy the old bus driver a bottle of whatever he likes and tell him what a fine outstanding man he is. Fucking little punks these days all need a goddam good whipping. Maybe if we start locking the kids and their parents up in the same cell for the crimes the kids commit, the fucking asshole kids would learn some manners and the nitwit parents would learn how to deal with their kids. Can I get a hell yeah?

I guarandamntee if that was my kid his ass would be sore for a week, he would apoligize to the bus driver, and his ass would walk to school for a week. I had to deal with idiot parents a couple of weeks ago after their kids got in my yard and poured my gasoline all over my good texas smokerBBQ pit. Then went through my back door and got in the house. Now they are only five and six but I had to give them a talkin to their parents did not do shit!!! I wanted to punch both of them in the mouth. One of them wouldn't even apoligize to me. FUCKING WORTHLESS.

Self-esteem my ass. Half the kids in my school are of that fucked-up psycho-depressed Goth culture; they don't WANT self-esteem. The other half consists mostly of loudmouth losers who spend the whole class talking about their latest cum-tasting/ejaculating experience instead of listening to the teacher. The kids who actually give a shit about their future number, I think, somewhere within the two-digit realm. The rest need a good kick in the ass instead of more sensitivity.

Disfunctional kids are raised by adults who do not want to accept responsibilty for their actions. They are focused soley on rights. When their children misbehave they seek to place the blame elsewhere.

my teachers (including my bus driver) had standing orders from both my parents to whip my ass if they felt it was necessary.

Even I didn't have a problem with that.. but I just plain never gave them a reason.

Drove a school bus when I was 16 years old. You could that in NC before Court ordered bussing.
Had an 11year old boy set a 9 year old girl's hair on fire with a Ronson lighter. Stopped the bus, grabbed the lighter, smacked the 11 year old into his seat and continued on.

Next day, the boy's older brothers were at the bus stop. Much yelling, when the older brother tries to get on the bus, I closed the door on his arm, popped the clutch and proceeded to drive off in 1st(Granny) gear, kind of dragging him down the road. Opened the door, he got his arm free and I drove off.

Told the elementary school principal and he says "Don't worry, I'll take care of things" Never saw any of the above participants again at the bus stop. To this day, I don't know what happened to them, but there were no conquences for me. Today, it would be Court for everybody.

For my part, I'd like to see less self-esteem and more shame.

Oh good grief. Did I see a different tape of that incident? Seems to me there were three people at fault. The whiny kid whose failure to yield to authority caused the problem to escalate to begin with, the older brother who threw a punch at the school official. Oh yes, and the BUS DRIVER who assaulted a kid while the camera was rolling and who clearly did the worst of the damage. A misdemeanor does not address what he did.
