Gut Rumbles

228 years old

Do you ever stop to think about what a YOUNG country we live in? We went from a ragged bunch of colonies to the greatest superpower in the world pretty damned quickly. I'll tell you how we did it, too. We allowed people the freedom to achieve.

I am delighted that I was lucky enough to be born and raised in this great nation. We may not be perfect, but we're one hell of a lot better than any other place I see out there. Let freedom reign.

Happy Birthday to the good, YOUNG USA!

The 24th I am going to the memorial for a buddy whose dad was in the Klondike gold rush - I remember his dad for always keeping a fire going even in mid summer because of the cold he experienced back then. That's personal acquaintence outside my family back to the Country's 100th birthday.

Yes, we are a young country in some respects. But we have been operating under the same Constitution since 1789. By that measure the United States is the senior government on the planet.

Happy birthday!
