i should have left it up

I wrote a post last night that I deleted because I didn't want to kick up another firestorm of "racism" charges because I happened to notice that the VAST MAJORITY of looters and thugs in New Orleans were black people. You just can't SAY the obvious in this country anymore.

Now I read this shit and I wish I had let the post stand. You can always bet your sweet ass that Jesse Jackson will show up to pile more crap in the outhouse whenever he gets a chance.

Jackson questioned why Bush has not named blacks to top positions in the federal response to the disaster, particularly when the majority of victims remaining stranded in New Orleans are black: ``How can blacks be locked out of the leadership, and trapped in the suffering?''

``It is that lack of sensitivity and compassion that represents a kind of incompetence.''

Duh... New Orleans has a black mayor. The governor of Louisiana is a woman. But there's RACISM afoot here.

My aching ass. I think FEMA did a rotten job of responding to this crisis, but "racism" had nothing to do with it. It was federal government inertia, combined with incompetence by the mayor and the governor. And for the Reverend Jesse to start stirring shit now is disgusting to me.

That bastard needs to be dragged off and shot. If he really wants to do some good, let him go help clean up the Superdome. If he sucked as much as he blows, he could vacuum the place clean in 30 minutes.

This whole thing has been one of massive incompetence and the blame laying hasn't even started. All the politicians and their ilk are now crawling out of the woodwork and trying to point fingers. Have you seen what that odious sack of shit Michael Moore has had to say about this?

And all this time, 205 busses have been sitting there, soaking up water.

Ah, what is Revern Jesse going to say when he dies, goes to hell and finds more Black racists there than White racists!

Posted by: TomR on September 3, 2005 03:12 AM

Bit confused about Tincanman's comments as Moore seems to be saying in his open letter to Bush exactly what Tincanman says?

not to fear there Rob! Ol Jesse would bitch if he got lynched with a used rope. Jackson is doin nuttin new and as usual the only thing he can do is piss and moan. Now I hear that the gubner of my state, Michigan, has offered to house 10,000 or so refugees. Up here most folks privately say this bout looters! "you loot, we shoot" . Course thats only what I hear from the older boys

Can Al Sharpton be far behind?

The Congressional Black Caucus beat them all to it: "It's all Bush's fault." I don't know where they were before they got called back into session, but I'll bet that none of them were anywhere near N'awlins doing anything to help the situation.

I see that Project 21 takes Cummings to task for it.

Jesse's just getting his angles lined up for his next shakedown. A fella's gotta eat y'know.

Incompetence my ass. It's a huge natural disaster. Few could have done better , considering the transportation issues; supplies and crews could not be staged nearby or they would have been wiped out, too. That's why the general recommendation for preparation is to have a week's supply of food and water, plus a weapon. It's well known it can take a week to get to the victims of such a calamity.

I'd say the incompetence was with the press, who were trying to make us disgusted with the governments' performances. Oh, they succeeded. I guess they're not so incompetent after all; their mission to divide the nation is accomplished.

As for the race of the looters, it's not remarkable. The city is majority black; the small percentage of looters is likely to be black for no other reason.

I posted a picture of the buses last night. The reason they were not used is damn obvious-piss poor planing. The fact is that there were no contingency plans for disaster preparedness. Murphy's Law precludes preplanning for ever facet of a disaster-but at least contingecy planning would have saved a lot of these people who died. I knew some USAF Tsgts who worked in the base mobility ops that could have drawn up better plans than the mayor of New Orleans had-plus these Tsgts would have coordinated in advance the logistics including refuge centers for evacuated people. But, it is SNAFU in New Orleans.

Guy's observation of poor planning at the local level is correct. I'm not surprised, having lived in Lousisiana. Government work there is an income, not a responisbility.

Here's a another perspective on this -

Posted by: Surfie on September 3, 2005 08:55 AM

We were talking about this last night.
New Orleans population is around 68% black. So what would you expect?
I actually heard a guy being interviewed on Fox News say that this whole mess reeks of racism. Somehow he thought the word "refugee" was a racist term. Oh pleeeeeeese!!!!!
I'm so sick and fucking tired of racism being blamed for EVERYTHING that goes wrong especially in the south.
Things down there are FUBAR. It makes me feel sad to watch to coverage. But what needs to be done is to be proactive and not point fingers. Shit!! The damage has been done. If it could have been avoided believe me it would have been avoided.
Everybody who's not suffering down there QUIT WHINING, GET OFF YOUR ASSES AND DO SOMETHING!!

Posted by: UziQ on September 3, 2005 09:39 AM

Isn't General Honore, the commander of all the military forces sent in, black? The mayor (what a boob - typical Louisiana politician - black, white or polka dotted) compared the general to John Wayne - and in a positive way!

Posted by: Patty on September 3, 2005 10:23 AM

Think about the positive side: Everyone is convinced in their 2nd Admendment right all over the country. Try passing anti-gun legislation after this.
"You Loot, We Shoot". All those poor bastards who thought that guns were evil are helpless now because their local and state government is helpless.

"New Orleans has a black mayor. The governor of Louisiana is a woman. "

And both of them are incompetent boobs,, entirely qualified to act as figureheads performing important government functions like a ttending luncheons and conferences while their cronies run things from behind the scenes while skimming public funds for personal enrichment.

New Orleans is the standard by which corruption in cities is judged.

Posted by: mostly cajun on September 3, 2005 10:54 AM

If finger pointing, Monday morning quaterbacking, and BS could cure this situation I would be glad to join the crowd.

Jesse Jackson is nothing but a professional shit factory. No one person is to blame in this matter. Katrina was not just another New Orleans afternoon thunderstorm.

With FEMA now in Homeland Security the management's mission and priorities have changed. We have have made foreign attack out-weigh other threats. NO society could have reacted much faster than the US did given the buraucratic nature of our government.

Remember this, the hurricane was colorblind and only in death are all men created equal.

I saw the Reverend Jackson on the Today Show this morning and it was all I could do to keep myself from lobbing a brick at the TeeVee Screen.

He objected to the use of the term "refugee" when describing those people displaced by the effects of the flooding in NOLA. Well, sorry, Jesse - that's what they are. They're people who have been displaced from their homes. There is no shame attached to the term "refugee" - except maybe because the Palestinians have so corrupted the term, it conjures up the wrong images.

And once he started ranting about "slave ships," I nearly lost it.

Fuck. You. Jesse.

Go and distribute food, or medicine, or bedding. Do some real work - and Shut The Fuck Up.

Jesse Jackson = George Bush . . .

Both showed up after the trouble

Both make their living off stupid Americans willing to give them money for no reason at all

Neither really gives a shit as long as they get their money

Neither helped to prevent the problem

Pretty elementary

I had to listen to some stupid half-wit at work this morning bitching about how Bush wasn't doing anything because it was mostly blacks in NO. Unfortunately it was a customer so I was not able to tell her exactly what a crock of shit that was. Yes, the reaction time could have been better, and they might have been able to do some things differently, but hindsight is always 20/20, and if I were one of the chopper pilots getting shot at, I would have left their ass there too. joke 'em if they can't take a fuck.

I have to agree with you tincanman; a lot of unprincipled jerks are jumping on the finger-pointing bandwagon to push their own agenda; I have to wonder if they are happy about the situation because it gives them a chance to spout off and try to gloat. As to how it has been handled, I think the local government is the one with the most to answer for; they waited until the last minute to announce evacuation, and obviously had no organized plans for a disaster, in a place that was obviously just waiting for one. The federal government should only be having to help, not shoulder the whole thing itself.
Just my opinion.
