adios

Sam and Stacey left around 9:00 this morning, headed back to Texas. Now, they've got to play beat the hurricane across Alabama and Mississippi to get back home. I hope they make it okay.

I'm really not worried about them, because they are young and dumb and this trip probably will be a great adventure they'll enjoy talking about for years. But rain started falling HERE less than ten minutes after they departed, so they may face a pretty miserable drive.

Plus, the truck they own is loaded to the gunnels with stuff Mama left for them. They return home with a lot more than they came with.

I was planning to drive down and see catfish today, but if the weather doesn't clear up, I may not go. Besides... I'm a little bit depressed right now.

I'm gonna miss them for a while.

And God Forbid they don't call when they get home, huh? My dad used to come up with all kinds of excuses like that to wait by the phone too. I loved him for it.

Livey, why don't you just bite my Cracker ass?

At least you got to see them though, and you got a 'shiny new house' and from the sounds of it some pretty good memories!
Hang on to the good bits whenever you can, 'cause the bad shit comes all too often.

Sorry darlin, I don't have to time it would take to cover that, seeing as you are all ass.

I don't think you ever get used to seeing your kid walk out the door.

They should be clear of the storm by the time it hits the panhandle. Looks like me and mine are going to miss the big blow and get the tropical storm end of it.

Yeah, the quietness is the worst part.

Kids coming and going and trekking through shit can make you depressed. Or stressed. Perhaps Livey doesn't understand that concept. This isn't pity party stuff. It's being happy for what's been and worrying about them as they leave.

Kim I have adult children, I understand all too well. Acidman knows what my comment was about, don't you worry.

Sorry if I'm ignorant. It was just an observation of someone not in the loop, I guess.
