early bloomer

According to this study, I was an adult at the age of 28. I met all the qualifications at that age.

The only problem is... I never grew up. And I don't intend to, either.

I'm 36 and I still haven't met all those qualifications: I'm not married and I don't have any children.

I lost my job in '01 when the bubble popped and the market crashed. I sold nearly everything I owned to stay afloat but eventually had to move back in with the parents, if only for a year. Does this mean I gave up my adulthood status for that time?

The study is crap. It's silly.

I'm willing to go along with moving away from the parents and becoming financially independant, but getting married and having children are not necessary for adulthood as millions of older singles will attest.

According to that study, pope John Paul II never reached adulthood simply because he never married and never had any children.

You're only young once, but you can be immature forever.

I want this chiseled on my tombstone.
