it's the truth

This is pretty much how a blogmeet usually goes. You have a good time meeting people you've only imagined meeting before, you drink a lot of adult beverages and you have excellent stories to tell later. Some people who witnessed the same stories unfold in reality may call you a goddam liar afterward, but that's just their word against yours.

Deny everything they say and stick with your story simply because it is a better story. QUALITY counts more than truth in such a situation.

I expect the Wreckle in Jekyll to be much the same.

Just by chance and because we were just hanging out in front of the TV, my girlfriend and I saw a great movie last night called "Big Fish" on HBO. It was the story of a dying southern man and his reconciliation with his son. The old man had been quite a story teller his whole life...and his son just wanted him to come clean before he died. Which he did...with fantasically wild (but basically true) stories.

The son was a writer and his father told him that they were the same guy except that "ahhh speak mine out and you write your's down" which made me think of bloggers and the tall tales that they sometimes spin.

That movie had both of us in stitches for 2 hours. You should see it...even if it does make you want to laugh and cry at the same time.

Those blogmeets have too be fun for you, because I know that you and everybody else probably embellish the shit out of your stories...and ain't nothin' wrong with that.

Your "Being Southern" post was a good one btw, and it made us both laugh pretty damned hard this morning too.

Send more info on the Jekyll Island happenings. Dane and I would love to put some faces with names.
I may be the one sober person there, but I know it'll be a hootenanny and a half just the same.
As long as there's a free place to stay, we may be able to wing it. At least I hope so.
