guns are evil

Some people just don't seem to understand. Guns are inherently BAD things. In fact, even pictures of guns are just as bad.

What hogwash.

I believe is that schools, streets and homes would be SAFER if schools taught a gun safety class for kids twelve years or older. That class should be required for graduation. Put THAT program into effect and see what happens to the gun control movement in America. It will wither and die on the vine.

People fear what they don't understand. Take an anti-gun mother who's never touched a gun in her life to the range or out in the woods and show her how a gun operates. Let her fire a few rounds. Watch the smile on her face, especially when she learns to hit a target.

When the lesson is over, the formerly anti-gun person usually wants to buy one of their own. Guns are FUN and they are NOT evil in and of themselves.

Evil people use guns for evil purposes. But that ain't the gun's fault.

I agree with you. In fact, there was a school somewhere near here in a small town that wanted to offer a gun safety class with range time because the students asked for it. Turns out that they couldn't because of a state law prohibiting ANY firearm on state or school property except the officially issued sidearm of a law-enforcement individual. They couldn't even have dummies to use in class. As I recall, eventually a very smart range owner donated half of the cost of the range time and a small conference room in his building as a classroom, and the students can take their gun class after school and still get credit. What a great business move for him.....

Do they still have rifle teams in any high schools?
My cousin Carole was on the Easton (PA) High School
rifle team in the early '60s. I thought that was unusual because she was a girl, but I would imagine its unusual
now for any male or female high school student to be
on such a team. Anybody know?

Phil, I think that today the very IDEA of a rifle team would give school administrators a case of hyperventilation and the vapors.

They're throwing kids out on suspension for bring a plastic butter knife in their lunch boxes.

My aching ass...

And this shit happened right here in New Hampshire, which really chafes my ass. Time to remind the escapees from the Democratic Peoples Republic of Massive-Two-Shits why they moved up here in the first place. Fucking flatlanders.

I've never shot a gun in my life but my boyfriend and I plan to buy a pistol in the near future to protect our home. I'm looking forward to learning how to shoot it, but I hope I never have to. I just don't want to ever be in a situation where I have to and either don't know how or hesitate too long.

I looked at the photograph. Not only is it a much more handsome photograph than anything in my high school yearbook, but the young man seems to be a paragon of gun safety. Breech open, but pointed at the ground anyway, etc. He should be a role model to his fellow students, not a pariah. Idiots.

Check out this link:
Another story of stupidity. A 17 year old Civil War Re-Enactor gets arrested for having his musket in his car at the school. He also had his uniform and accutriments in the car but the school still had him arrested.

This has everything to do with leftist control and nothing to do with some safety concern. How many junkies are arrested and suspended from these schools for using drugs on school property?

"When the lesson is over, the formerly anti-gun person usually wants to buy one of their own."

I'm a good example of that in action. About 20 yrs ago, in an old BBS forum, I had a discussion with a man, a pro-gun guy, about how some controls were necessary. He and I went back and forth, and I finally admitted that perhaps part of my feelings about guns were colored by the fact that I had never been exposed to them and was intimidated by them. The next day he mailed me back and we set a date for the range.

I got to learn how to load, how to stand, how to aim, and how to be safe. I fired revolvers, semi-automatic handguns, a rifle and a big-assed shotgun that bruised me up and made me laugh. I fired everything from a .22 to a .44 magnum, and then some. I had a blast, and found out I was a damned good shot.

I now own (or co-own with the spouse) two handguns, five rifles, and a small .410 shotgun. And I'm still a damned good shot, bad eye-sight and all.

Know a gun-control nut? Take them to the range!

My favorite statement to gun-control nuts:

"Guns don't kill people. People kill people."

If we didn't have guns (or knives, etc), we'd all just kill eachother with sticks and stones. So maybe we should control those too. :P

Guns have one purpose and that is to kill. I have fired a gun before at the range and all it does is give you a sense of power. Only the weak must poses guns and only the weak like guns because it makes them feel powerful. If you are defenseless, scared, cowardly than a gun is perfect for you. If you are not weak put the gun down and use your brain or intellect (or maybe just hit the gym). If you have a gun you are 300 percent more likely to be killed by one. Guns cause nothing but complications. The 2nd amendment (right to bear arms) has a history dating back to the 1800s when police presence was non existent. As a result the government said it was okay to bear arms. It is now the year 2008. Other countries don't have guns and they don't kill each other with sticks and stones. The US has the highest murder rate by guns in the world.

guns are not evil, only the person who have evil intentions do.

OK - First of all, a Gun in any shape or form is just a tool. And like many tools we as humans have developed over the last million years. Guns have their uses and their dangers. Cars, Hammers, Steak Knives, Stair cases and Airplanes, are things that kill people all the time. How come I don't see people protesting the use of stairs in buildings? They injure and kill more people every year than guns by 3000%. I think I need to start the coalition for non-use of stairs. I will call it Ramps for a safer America! Anyone who uses stairs is promoting murder!! What about windows? People can fall out of them! How about pavement! Get rid of the roads or make them softer so when you fall off a motorcycle you can just tumble softly to a stop and keep going. And Oh Geese I forgot got to get rid of the chickens! People die every year by choking on bones. We should only eat things with no bones. Etc Etc Etc.
I am of course kidding. But people need to think about what they try to protest and look at things for what they are. Guns are tools, nothing more. Our forefathers needed a better way to catch prey. Now most people use them for fun, hunting and protection. That is all they are. And anyone trying to say they are anything more than that is an Idiot. If you really could get rid of Guns, then the same People that are would-be killers would just find another TOOL to kill with. You anti-gun people are all idiots. I am embarrassed to be of the same genome as you folks. Grow up you num-nuts.

Charles C. Webb: are you joking or serious? I'm going to assume you're joking... if not, you should see a psychiatrist as soon as possible. :)

HAHAHAHA The last comment.

I am a Veteran from the service I am 25 and my wife while i was on tour our home was broken in by 3 individuals.

When I got word what happened they told me the whole story and what she heard and saw.

She heard someone break down our front door and people talking some one cocked a gun so she grabbed our 12 Ga Semi and unloaded on them, the police said that she did the right thing cause they found out they were probably involved in the 4 other home invasions and 2 murders.

One of the robbers had passed away at the hospital and the other 2 were seriously injured.

LOL She needed to feel powerful didn't she, O and hitting the GYM would have helped alot.

The number one weapon used in the US for murder is Guns.

Number TWO is Knifes/Cutting instruments.

So lets make the world a Better place and Ban Guns Knifes and anything Pointy or can Possibly be used as a weapon.

And I am not going to cower when a home invader holds a gun or knife to me and threaten my family or me, I am not a coward I will defend what i love and if some people are to cowardly to defend there family well I AM SORRY FOR THE LACK OF LOVE YOU HAVE FOR YOURSELF AND FAMILY.
