my fame lives on
I'm not exactly proud of this, but I still believe in my central point. I just shouldn't have been so "vicious" when I posted it.
I believe in freedom. I have a real problem with people who can't handle being free, then make lame excuses for the way they behave. With freedom comes personal responsibility. That's why a lot of people can't handle it.
People who can't run their own lives either turn to government to run it for them, or else they behave so outrageously that government FEELS OBLIGATED to step in and run it for them. Either way, these people are doing NO ONE, including themselves, any favors.
And if you're black, female or a coal-dusted hillbilly from Harlan County, Kentucky, you need to know that the bar is set just a little bit higher for you than it is for the rich white boy down the street whose daddy owns a bank and two car dealerships. It may not be "fair," but that's the way it is. You have to try harder and be BETTER than that rich kid. (In the long run, you WILL BE, if you try.)
You don't accomplish anything but self-destruction when you show your ass in a riot at a got-dam basketball game. That's not how ALL of my family, who grew up poor in the armpit of the Appalatchan Mountains, got out of those hills and made something of themselves. They all carried wherewithall on that trip to better things. They worked hard, learned anything that they could and NEVER stopped trying.
I'm sorry, and you can call me a racist if you want, but blacks, by and large, do not have that kind of attitude. They listen to assholes such as Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, who have nothing more on their agenda than to KEEP the downtrodden right where they are, and they vote 95% Democrat, which has never done a fucking thing except keep them right where they are. If you think of yourself as a victim, guess what? You will ALWAYS be a victim.
You can be a victim or you can be free. That's a personal choice, and it's up to YOU to make it.
Who ever told you life was "fair," anyway?
(UPDATE: Okay, let's just put it this way: "Freedom isnt always supposed to be pretty; it can be messy and at times ugly if it does not conform to what you would rather see...but it is supposed to be real....a true expression of what we are in all of it's forms. It requires discipline above all else, tho, which sounds contrary to those who do not understand it.
(Another Update: be sure to read the comments on that post. While you're at it, vote for me. Chap a delicate ass.)
don't apologize. I generally agree with each and every one of those entries. Instapundit is a "compassionate conservative" - they can only handle the truth if it's spoken elegently.
No no no no no......!!!!
Vote for MEEEEE!!! ( candidate #9 on the list, I believe?) *grin*
Okay, now that I'm done shamelessley shilling for my ascension to the Ten Most Hated List, let me just say that it's amazing that that herd of Left Feet run around in circles, completely unware of the axiom.....
......"If the shoe fits, wear it!"
Dorothy's Ruby Slipper wasn't as perfect a match.

Agreed - never apologize for telling the truth. Ever notice how the Left always seems to come the most unglued when their pet projects and feelings are called into account? That you generated that much reaction only means you hit the nail right on the head - and they can't STAND it - so you're "labelled" as a way of discrediting your entire argument.
Keep the faith. The Left are the real racists today.
Hey, what you said about the Metropolis riot makes total sense Rob. You are in worthy copany on that list. Keep telling it like it is.
I went to two high school graduations. One was from a racially mixed school and the ceremony featured show-dogging, hooting and hollering, moon-walking, air horns, and folks so disruptive to the proceedings that you couldn't hear the names being called out.
The other one proceeded in quiet dignity. A few folks clapped, but no one ripped off their shirts and tried to hang from the ceiling.
I can't believe the first school even bothers holding the graduation ceremony. It's nearly a riot.
Clayton Cramer commented a while back on the deterioration of the quality of middle-class kids. It's true.
If the politically correct can't stand the truth they still have freedom of choice, until they take that away, and can always read their own ultra liberal blogs. Don't apologize, you're bluntly honest and I for one like that.
What about, for instance, providing nurses to low income single mothers, including low income single black mothers for say 2 years. Three questions:
a) Is it fair, regardless of outcome, to tax the people who worked hard enough to make a decent income, to provide services to people who didn't work hard enough or make bad choices that they'd have to pay for themselves?
b) Just because your family defeated the odds through hard work and character, is it acceptable to ignore the fact that the odds are stacked against the poor in any number of ways?
c) Is 'helping people help themselves' against the conservative credo if it means an overall redistribution of money from people who earned more of it to people who earned less of it?
Max, the answer to #3 is HELL YES!!!
I agree with the others that there is no need to apologize. I've felt that this country is becoming a more "I don't want to hurt his or her feelings" kind of place for a long time.
What always got me in college were the "minority scholarships" which I think are totally unfair and "racist" in their own right(what do you think they would do if there were "Caucasian only" scholarships being touted? Yet whites can't apply for minority scholarships)
You're right. A woman (from KY no less) like me has to work to make it. I don't want any "grants" or "handouts" because the white man is bringing me down and hurting my widdle feelings. There were quite a few jobs I suspect I was passed over for because I was a woman in the computer field. Eh, so what. I bitch and then I get on with my life. I worked so hard for what I have. Why would I want the government holding my hand and stepping on people so I can have it easy?
I got to school in Vancouver Canada . We have a very large asian population . Oriental children tend to work harder in school and focus more on studies than us whitebreds mainly due to parental pressure . So it's kinda like the reverse of what acidman said . It's us white kids who fail to get on the honour roll and generally bullshit around instead of study . My high school's honour roll was like a hong kong phone book .
And if you're black, female or a coal-dusted hillbilly from Harlan County, Kentucky, you need to know that the bar is set just a little bit higher for you than it is for the rich white boy down the street whose daddy owns a bank and two car dealerships.
Believe or not, this is what my step-dad drilled into my head when I was a kid.
What makes you look a lot like a racist, Acidman, is the fact that when white people go hog-ass wild, looting and rioting after a sporting event, as white people are sometimes known to do, you don't post any diatribes ranting about white people and their inability to act civilized.
Jesus, kids of all races do stupid shit, sometimes singly, sometimes in packs. Yet you seem to consistently single out blacks for your denunciations?
Acidman, have you ever noticed that when you post this kind of crap, you get all these commenters telling their own personal black-people-behaving-badly stories? Does that not give you pause?
I stuck up for you on the original post, as I think I know you well enough to know that the very last thing you are is a racist man. I know racism. I've seen the real deal, and what you said was pretty far from it.
Hell, when Bill Frickin' Cosby more or less says the same thing (in not so many words), you're better off without those who would label you as a racist for attempting to make the same point.
Fuck 'em, and their pansy-assed sensibilities.
Max M if anyone besides me tries to redistribute my wealth to people who have less one of two things will happen. 1. I'll go out in a blaze of glory. 2. The amount of income reported will go way down. The second option is the most likely course of action, but you push hard enough and the first will start to look better.
Bill Cosby recently said as much as you did at some sort of celebration for Brown vs. Board of Education.
Reports at the incident referred to poverty pimps Jack$on and Mfume as being 'stone-faced.' Ha ha ha.
I was pleased to see some of my favorite blogs on there and to be able to add a new one to my list.
Sometimes those lefties do God's work. They don't mean to, but it counts just the same.
