Gut Rumbles

Website

I want to start my own website for my art. I'm willing to pay for hosting and all but I need some suggestions on how to get started. All I know is the free sites like Geocities and Blogger. If anyone out there still reads this and could send me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated. You can e-mail me at my dad's e-mail address.

It's very simple.

First, book a domain name via register.com (the safest domain registrar).

Next, create a website on your computer using Frontpage or Dreamweaver.

Next, find a paid domain host, (paid is always better than Geocities / blogger etc.). To find a suitable domain host, just do some research. For example, Gutrumbles is hosted on some domain host, if you guys are happy with it, then go for the same one. Your site will not be a very high volume site... so I would suggest you try to go for a cheap deal. You shouldn't have to pay more than $5 a month. You could also look up the various other blogs that are privately hosted, and see who's hosting them and go for one of those.

The best way to boost sales is to advertise...

While not directly related to an art site, here's a thought on this site that may have been mentioned before. Every other day or so, recycle one of your dad's old posts. Most of them are timeless and can still be enjoyed without everyone trying to research the archives. Then, in those recyled posts have a link to your new art site. Good luck on it.

You might check out: http://www.ebsqart.com/. It costs $6.50/month, but is cheaper if you pay for a year. I've been with them for a couple of years now, and have been very happy with them. They generate a lot of traffic and reach a lot of important people. Shortly after I set up my site with them, I was contacted by an advertising agency and a TV show, both who were interested in my art and had found me through that site. They are also affiliated with Ebay, which is a good thing. Good luck!
