what's your sign?

Here's another email I received today on the post about resizing a new picture for my sidebar.

How are we supposed to know what your email is?

I have your image converted. Where should I send it?

I'm not going to mention any names here. I'm just going to attempt to walk the person through the difficult steps involved in sending me an email when I didn't put an address in the post.

1) Look at my page. Pay special attention to the top left-hand corner.

2) Where it says, "EMAIL ME."

3) Click on that link.

4) See what pops up? Good. Email me.

5) Be sure to click "send" when you are finished.

If these instruction are too difficult to follow, just email me and I'll... wait a minute. How are you supposed to know what my email is?

Never mind. This just ain't EVER gonna work!

So it does. But not when you get the pages via feed. (RSS)

What the hell is RSS?

RSS is what some people use to read your website, rather than refreshing their browser 47,000 times a day.

The XML and RDF links at the bottom of your sidebar are your feeds that enable people to do that.

I went to your site and saw no link labelled 'Email me'. Then I turned javascript on for your site --- I and lots of people run with it off, since it is a security hole --- and the link appeared. You apparently have it in javascript to try to obfuscate it from bots.

I'm with you on the RSS A-man. Just another one of the great mysteries of blogging to me.

Um. I do NOT see an "EMAIL ME" link in the top-left corner of your home page.

Maybe my browser is borken, or maybe it's because I have Javascript turned off to avoid all the god-damned popup windows and the rest of that kind of shit.

Anyway, I have your image converted, if you want it. If you give me your email address I'll send it to you.

Oh, and: you're welcome.

Yup, Chablis got it. Makes it a helluva lot easier to keep up with a lot of blogs because all the new posts come in similar to "emails".

*sigh* I just make sure I don't click shiny things or download what I don't know. And I run, free scan.

You have email from with your pictures. :)

Those who have javascript turned off to prevent popups should switch to Firefox. It does a great job of popup blocking while allowing javascript to run.

Every once in a while a blank popup will make it but it's almost a welcome change.

I dunno Rob...I noticed your blog is not designed for the "Sight Impaired". Would you please make your site more conducive to those individuals? Maybe you can install some type of Braille bumps that will transfer, as the page loads, onto everyone's screen so the Sight Impaired can more easily read you least for those who have trouble with the printed word.
