all right!!!

This is the kind of story that makes me proud to be an American. You know what it's got that you seldom hear from government anymore?

Self-reliance.

I've never met Vance Anthion and I probably never will, but if I ever do, I want to shake his hand. THAT'S a fine man, one hell of a lot better than those pork-bearing assholes we elect to congress.

Shit may float in a flood, but good people rise above that.

Oh, and GREAT story!

of course, the other option is to copy the name "vance anthion" and then do a google news search, and the story comes up that way as well.

Beautiful story but I can't help but notice that their government didn't treat them very respecfully for having shown that self-reliance. In fact, chances are they'll be shipped like cattle to some destination unknown. I hear they're not telling them where they're going until they get there.

Is this what we pay taxes for?

What this shows me is that a few individuals of character took leadership roles and continued to prove throughout the ordeal that they could lead well and had the respect of others. Only with leadership can you have organization and that is what kept people alive and relatively sane.

Yes, it sounds like they were treated roughly by the authorities in the end but you can only imagine what those guys had run into prior. You can only take so much $#!+. The important thing is that they survived because of the good judgement of both their leaders and the "troops".
