i done good!

I have raised a genuine southern daughter, even if she does live in Texas now. She's got a recipe posted for Fried Green Tomatoes.

Hot dam, Sam! I am proud of you!!! You need to find the next Carnival of the Recipes and submit that one.

I'll give you a tip (you know me-- it ain't EVER just right unless I have a hand in it), try soaking the green tomatoes in slightly salty water for 30 minutes before you fry them. That gets rid of the bitter taste. Also, add just a dab (you know--- just enough to fill that little hollow in the palm of your hand) of Old Savannah Seafood Seasoning to your batter.

Also, I like 'em cut thinner than you cut them. But I want to try some that YOU cooked. You tasted my Low Country Boil and liked it, so now you need to return that favor!

Heh. I've raised a Southern girl!!!

That's a fine recipe Sam's got there.

For a version that the health concious might enjoy, my dad and I take the green tomatoes and lightly salt them and then let them sit for a little while. Then, we take the tomatoes throught the egg wash and and next add bread crumbs to each side. Cook in the oven on 350 degrees for about 20 minutes. For something that's not fried, they tastes pretty damned good.

Where the fuck do you think Texas is ya idget? Why don't you take out that atlas you have had tucked into the drawer of your cheap ass dining room hutch since 1978 and take a glance at it sometime.

If Texas ain't southern the grits ain't groceries.Thee Tehas was settled mostly by men from the south-from Tennesee to the Carolinas and a hell of a lot of them out of Georgia, Bama, and Mississippi.

You'll find a lot of the customs from music to eats are from the Piedmont and mountains of the Southeast. Texans eat blackeyed peas with boiled okra, Chickenfried steak ( probably from the German settlers otherwise know as a Snitzel) smashed spuds and flour gravy.

The language is a drawl with a lot of the hillcountry uens and usens thrown in depending on the area of Texas, Educated Texans know they ain't 'post to talk this way but don't give a damn.

Yep, Texas is southern allright and most Texans, except for some misplaced yankees, are proud of it. Even us Okies like to visit baja Oklahoma once in a while.

PJ please don't mention the word Texas in any of your posts again. I would hate for people to get the impression you are from here. Plus you degrade our good name just by letting it roll of your firgertips.

gravdigr-PJ is just proof that there is at least one more horse's ass than there are horses in Texas.

PJ, you don't do your credibility one bit of good, posting ignorant drivel like that.

I'm in Arizona and I'm sure as hell not Southern--no matter HOW hot it is here.

Hmmm... I'll try that salt water thing. But I like that slightly bitter taste. So... we'll see.

When your great, great granddaddy founds a town called Lone Star, Texas and you've had ancestors that fought for our independence here in the Lone Star State and your family has been here for more than six generations like mine has, then we'll discuss who should talk about being from here and who shouldn't. Now, why don't you and G.W. go back where ya'll came from ya fucktarded yankee ass Texan wannabe's.
