July 13, 2005what???How can this be true? Just two days ago, Hillary Clinton was railing against Bush for bankrupting the American economy by giving "tax cuts to the rich." Surely, SHE wouldn't lie to you! The big surprise has been in tax revenue, which is running nearly 15 percent higher than in 2004. Corporate tax revenue has soared about 40 percent, after languishing for four years, and individual tax revenue is up as well. That's exactly what "tax cuts for the rich" do. It's worked every time a politician had the balls to do it (see Kennedy, Reagan AND Bush) and it always goes away when Democrats regain power and try to punish the very people who already PAY for running this country. History doesn't lie. Politicians do. Comments
Uh, last time I noticed, she and Bill were doing allright themselves and I certainly would consider them rich. I haven't heard about them giving their tax breaks back. Have you? They sure as hell are doing WAY better than I am. Posted by: DrugStore Cowboy on July 13, 2005 03:11 PM
History doesn't lie. Politicians do. You might want to check your history books again Acidbrain. Reagan cut taxes for the rich, but the economy during the 80's plummeted and he left office with such a huge budget deficit that when Bush 41 took over, he had to raise taxes even after he lied to the American people and said "Read my lips, no new taxes". And Bush 41 left office with the largest budget deficit in history until his dumbass son came along later and created an even bigger deficit. Clinton left office with the largest budget SURPLUS in history. Check your facts. These sorry ass tax cuts by Bush 43, especially during a time of war have been incredibly irresponsible and have put a tremendous strain on every state in the nation. State and local budgets have been cut for so many necessary agencies across the nation, that we will be trying to repair the damage for years to come. PJ Posted by: PJ on July 14, 2005 03:30 AMYou got that right, Rob. One of the things they "forget" with that "tax cuts for the rich" bullshit. They never mention all the people who have been removed from the tax rolls because of the tax cuts and the raising of the income threshold for paying taxes. I dunno if it's in the millions, but it's a significant number. Posted by: StinKerr on July 14, 2005 03:32 AMFuck you again pj.
