Gut Rumbles

April 22, 2005

the drinks are on me

I wanna buy this guy a beer. Hell, I'll even help raise his bail money. I believe that what Jane Fonda did during the Vietnam War was downright traitorous and I will NEVER forgive her for it.

She has blood on her hands. Why should she worry about some tobacco juice in the face?

He's a hometown boy Rob; you'll have to stand in the back of a very long ass line till it's your turn. It is odd though, the mindset around here as to what he did. Anyone over a certain age or current military or past are diggin what the cat did, some a hell of a lot more then others. Whilst young cats don't seem to understand what the fuss is all about. Janeís reaction was odd, either sheís cucumber cool or expected something like that to happen. When the cat spit a mouthful of tobacco juice all over her, she never missed a beat. While muthafuckerís were wiping all the shit off her, she never stopped signing books.

I have to disagree on this one as much as I despise Jane Fonda. There are right ways to protest, and this wasn't one of them. When I have a dispute, I always try to wear the white hat--like the good guys in cowboy movies. The public or a court can then clearly see who is being right and side with them. (There is an exception to this rule. If you are a man in a divorce, nothing works.)

Posted by: Woody on April 22, 2005 01:23 PM

Hey, it's Karma...she "spit" on the military guys for years...she got what she deserved. Her only saving grace was the fact that she took it and didn't bitch. She knows what she's done.

She can wipe off the spit, move on...and be Damn Glad that's the ONLY thing that happened to her! Cause I know plenty of military personnel who would like to see a lot worse happen!

Make me want to take up chaw!

When this story came up in our political forum, a lefty member immediately dismissed the guy as a "redneck Republican"....which was interesting, because his political leanings weren't disclosed in the story, only that he was a Vietnam vet. And it was my opinion that his status as a vet is what drove his actions, not how he voted.

I'd be curious to know - although it doesn't matter, I suppose - what his political affiliation is.

Posted by: Trish on April 22, 2005 02:48 PM

I'm with Woody on this one. Only a coward (and filthy pig) would spit tobacco juice on a woman. He should have had his ass kicked as well as arrested.

And the pussy (after spitting on Jane) RAN AWAY.

But thats what cowards do, they turn tail and run.

What piece of shit.

And no, I am not a Fonda fan, and my father was a POW in WW2 Germany (lest you all jump on me for being some sort of leftwing, commie sympathizer)

Posted by: Ruth on April 22, 2005 03:04 PM

I'm with Woody and Ruth on this. Jane is a bitch for doing what she did, but what that guy did was juvenile and disgusting.

Posted by: Alaska Kim on April 22, 2005 03:14 PM

Call him what you will.... think what you will about what HE did...but, Jane...GOT OFF EASY...compared to what happened to some of the guy's that were affected by HER actions.

And she doesn't feel one bit of sorrow or remorse for any of it.

Posted by: Wendi on April 22, 2005 04:36 PM

Maybe it wasn't the right thing to do but you have to put it into perspective. What Ms. Fonda did was beyond understandable. She was a traitor to her own country.

While the actions of this man may not have been appropriate, they were certainly understandable.

Just ask my husband. I'm sure he wouldn't mind paying this guy's legal fees.

Posted by: Moogie on April 22, 2005 04:41 PM

He should have spit the whole wad on her, and why run? There should be a medal for him, you betcha !

Posted by: UPNORFDUDE on April 22, 2005 04:47 PM

I think he did spit the whole wad on her. in fact I bet after waiting in line for almost two hours he put some extra shit in his mouth just to make sure it was all thick and gloophy and fresh and shit. And I agree on all counts, you don't have to like what he did, but I sure in the hell cna understand why he did it. And I bet that was one of the nicer things on his list he wanted to do.

Posted by: Greg on April 22, 2005 05:10 PM

Fonda came to my hometown (Waterbury CT) to film a movie with Robert DeNiro...

QUOTE: Fonda appeared on TV with Barbara Walters and apologized saying: "I'm very sorry for some of what I did...I'd like to say something not just to the veterans in Waterbury but to the men in Vietnam who I hurt, or whose pain I caused to deepen because of the things I said or did. I feel I owe them an apology...There were times when I was thoughtless and careless...I'm very sorry that I hurt them."

Wendi must have missed that one....
Yes what Fonda did was stupid and thoughtless and even outrageous...but I still think spitting tobacco juice in a womans face AND RUNNING away is both DISGUSTING and COWARDLY.

Posted by: Ruth on April 22, 2005 05:10 PM

See Jane drip, drip, drip. See them mop off Jane, mop, mop. See Jane not skip a beat, and continue to try and re-write her history, here and on every talk show. However we vets won't ever forget the real truth. I liked it better when Ted had a muzzle on her. Wonder if they had an agreement for her to keep mouth shut for several years after the divorce, you think?? We'll get back to that later, you betcha!!

Posted by: UPNORFDUDE on April 22, 2005 05:42 PM

I would be interested in what proof there is that he "ran away", other then once his mission was accomplished, he left. And in the case of Hanoi "can't you tell by my book I'm the victim here" Jane, she should have been arrested any number of years ago (btw is there a statute of limitations on treason?) given her day in court, and taken out and shot. Sorry ladies (and others) I would agree with you 99 times out of 100, two wrongs don't make a right. But Jane, proves to be the exception to this rule. If all she ever "faces" for her transgressions, is a bit of 'baccy juice" on the puss, she should be thankful for that.

Posted by: Guy S. on April 22, 2005 06:31 PM

Guy -- there was a woman on the O'Reilly Factor last night that was the owner or manager of the book store where Jane was signing books. She said that he walked up to where Jane was sitting, turned like he was walking away, and then quickly turned back toward her, spit on her, and then bolted. I don't know if he ran, but he didn't waste any time getting away. I still think that was a nasty thing to do. Gross.

Posted by: Alaska Kim on April 22, 2005 06:38 PM

Oh Gee...I'm sorry....

She's very sorry for SOME of what she did...which part was that?

Was it giving the notes that the POW's slipped to her BACK to their captors so, that they could be tortured and beaten? Was that SOME of what she was SORRY about? know what her apologies are NOW...publicity for her NEW BOOK...did she apologize BEFORE the book came out? HELL NO!

You can think the guy was cowardly and disgusting...but, the things that she did...were...EVIL, VILE, and UN-AMERICAN!

So, NO I don't feel sorry for her! I won't apologize for NOT feeling sorry for her. I won't ever feel like she has gotten her just desserts for the things she has done.

The men and women who CHOOSE to serve in our armed forces do NOT deserve to be treated like dirt. She treated them like LESS then that when she did the things that she did. There's a reason she became known as Hanoi Jane. It was not out of affection!

I think what John Kerry did was WORSE than what Fonda did, and if someone spit tobacco juice on him, I'd still say it was disgusting, vile, immature and cowardly. Hit and run and SPIT and RUN...
Any "man" who spits tobacco juice on a woman and RUNS away is a pussy. (and a vile pig) And I dont think serving in Viet Nam means you should get a pass on vile, piggish, and cowardly behavior. Thats all I'm sayin'.

Posted by: Ruth on April 22, 2005 08:09 PM

Jane Fonda is a piece of crap and deserves alot, but no-one deserves getting spit in the face. Someone in the crowd should have grabbed the stupid motherfucker and beat him to a pulp. Anyone who would spit in a ladies face is a fucking cowardly dogturd that needs to be stepped on. At least he could have stood there and verbally abused the stupid cunt, until they dragged him off. If he had any balls that is. He didn't even have the fucking guts to stick around. Had to run away like the pussy that he is.

Posted by: rmiles on April 22, 2005 08:38 PM

"Anyone who would spit in a ladies (sic) face..."

A lady does not give aid and comfort to our enemies.

A lady does not write a book telling details about her sex life. (Three-ways with her ex and other women)

She is a nasty traitor and I hope her breast implants burst. Painfully.

It is clear few here paid attention in history class, or remember the how and why almost 60,000 Americans died and countless more were maimed in that war.

Hint: It has nothing to do with Jane Fonda, however reprehensible one might think her, or her behavior, to be. And if you say it was to fight off communism, then, you really are clueless.

She is an easy target because most refuse to blame those truly at fault. That anyone still defends our being in VIetnam . . . well . . . I reference you back to my opening comment.

Such is the stuff of myths and legends.

The truth as to how our nation allowed so many of its own to be killed for no reason whatsoever other than the 1954 hand-off from the Frenchies to our own incompetents in office and in the Pentagon, is hardly a mystery, for anyone who prefers the truth over the fictionalized fantasy.

Those who refuse to learn from history are doomed to repeat it, as Iraq is proving in abundance.

For those who might wish to spit on me, just go read some of the miserable tripe from the true SOB in that false war called Vietnam--Robert McNamara. Go learn who sent countless numbers to die in a useless war. Add LBJ to you list of traitors, because he certaily was!

Just once--find out the the flipping truth, ok?

False patriotism is . . . well . . . false.

Our government used and burned up a generation of dedicated soldiers for the same old shit as is being done today in Iraq..

As a certain wise man once said . . .

"Go and learn what this means."

Posted by: murry on April 23, 2005 05:39 AM

While we're talking about the world of shoulds, he should not have spit in her face, because that should not have been possible. Instead, she should have been hanged long ago. There was a time when this country hanged its traitors.

Posted by: Ernie G on April 23, 2005 07:03 AM

What? It's okay that those men got spit on when they got home after serving their country, being wounded, being targets and being used like toilet paper by this country but, it's so bad for her to get spit on after she SHIT ON VETS all these years?

Fuck that cunt.
And, anyone who defends her. (Whom, btw, are also cunts...)
You should all go back to Nam together and start a blowjob concession for all your Commie buddies over there.

Thirty years and still some people are so fuckin' stupid they just don't get it.

Fuck them.
And her.

If she gives such a huge shit about her reprehensible behavior, why doesn't she PROVE IT by turning over the proceeds from her "book" to the VA?
(Hint: Because she dosen't give a shit, never has and never will. She's nothing more than a platitude-spouting, reputation-rehabilitating asshole who shoulda been hung back then.)

All she needs to do is fuck off and die.
And, if that's too complex for her, I'd settle for DIE.

Since when is JB worth spit?

Posted by: McGehee on April 23, 2005 10:47 AM

Excellent point, McG . . .

You always have such an intellectual grasp of matters. :-)

Posted by: jb on April 23, 2005 12:29 PM

Being spat on is nothing compared to the hurt she caused and continues to cause. Before she resurfaced I pitied her a little, I imagined her actions being part of a youthful error. BUT, IN her own words she defends her actions and only *regrets* the gun incident, and insists she supported our Troops.
My only wish is that the Vets would dismiss her rather then allow her to be given such credit, shes just an idiot.

Posted by: Treasa on April 23, 2005 02:05 PM

First, the guy was probably on her payroll to get a million dollars worth of publicity to sell her book.

Second, Jane Fonda committed treason and in doing so probably cost Americans their lives. She lives with blood on her hands for which she has never offered even a sincere apology.

Fonda killed Americans and a disgruntled veteran spit in her face. Put that on the scale of justice and see which side carries the heaviest burden.

Posted by: Armchair Admiral on April 23, 2005 10:45 PM

I believe that mere "dismissal" of Hanoi Jane would be too much like tacit forgiveness and that is an impossibilty.

Not after what she did, and her continuing refusal to comprehaned just how utterly, contemptably, morally and intrinsically wrong it was and continues to be.

She's more than just an idiot.
She's a Communist sympathsizing accomplice to the killing of God knows how many of our men.

For that, there can be no forgiveness.
Even moreso, since she is not the slightest bit sorry.. well, yes she is. She is a sorry excuse for a woman and a human being.
What she's not is apologetic in the slightest bit and that is what makes forgiveness impossible.

Posted by: Stevie on April 23, 2005 11:52 PM

I have no need to defend Fonda . . .

Nor do I have any need to defend myself against the half-witted, illogical thinking that passes as an attack on my character, ad hominem, by those whose thinking process is so clouded by obscenities that they cannot rid themselves of their vitriol long enough to think rationally.

Hello? Your friendly government, which we keep electing even after they perpetually fuck up everything in our lives, take our money, tell us what to do, and fail to protect us or our borders . . .

And the good old Pentagon--ever eager to try out the newest bombs and missles . . .

Gov. and the Pentagon--they are the ones who sent American sons and daughters off to die in totally UNCONSTITUTIONAL WARS.

Whatever you think of Jane Fonda, it is the people you and your parents and grandparents VOTED for that killed 60,000 in VIetnam, and another 2,000 with 15,000 maimed for life in Iraq.

And telling me to go fuck myself only proves you lack both coherency of thought, and speech.

If you lie to yourself about the truth, it is not my fault.

Buy a mirror . . . look in it . . . blame the right person.

Rob--you be my blog-daddy and for better or worse, we have been able to rock and roll back and forth for three years plus. But Dude, read your own words about government--damn--how far does government have to shove it up before you wake up and blame the flipping idiots you voted for?

The next civil war will not be won by the likes of the asinine bunch in DC, and if anyone reading this thinks different . . . you have my sympathies, and my condolences as well, since you have lost any sense of what is constitutional.

Smif--might as well ban me as yet another troll.

You know, despite your readers' goofy opinions, that I am right of you and way right of them.

But they have, like the Republicans, sung harmony to the Marxists for so long that they can only accuse me of being what they themselves are.

Yeah, I know what's coming next . . . Fuck me.

Not a cogent argument, just the usual scattershot supposed to make me feel bad.

Hardly. Those who wish to live in ignorance of what is being done to them with their express approval, deserve the results.

Pretty basic, all in all . . .

Look... Jane Fonda is another bloodless cunt.

End of story.

Either ya get that, or ya don't.

"We swear, we living, to our long-dead brave,
Weíll live to piss upon your grave.
So Jane, good fortune, unforeseen,
Your traitorís grave will be forever green."

I think piss kills grass. Shit makes it grow.

Nice sentiment though....

Posted by: Strider on April 25, 2005 02:47 PM

Stevie, I'm not sure you'll see this, but I considered what you said about dismissal being a bit too much like forgiveness, and now that I think about it, I agree. You have to be sorry first and she appears to be very proud of herself. My old thinking was that being dismissed was a good punishment for such an ego hound, ya know? T
