Say what???

Some people are live-blogging the Oscars. Here we have an example of exactly how inane we have become. I'm gonna watch TV, blog about what I saw on TV, which is the same show that you're watching, and you should REALLY want to read what I have to say instead of just watching the goddam TV for yourself.

Besides, does anybody really GIVE A SHIT??? I don't.

The Oscars are on?

Well, I'm sort of tired of the Oscars, so I'm not watching it this year. But blogging about the Oscars is sort of like blogging about politics or religion......either you're into it, or you're not. It can turn into a pretty heated discussion for those who are into it.

You're right, as usual, but didn't follow your rant far enough.

The Oscars, and their clones, the Emmys, the Golden Globes or the People's Choice awards are a perfect microcosm of all the wrong things in our culture.

The culture of the vapid, of the shallow, of the unimportant.

Why celebrate it? By doing so, we reveal our weakness to the entire world. We shout "Here We Are! We're Wasting Our Time And Yours!" to the entire world.

There are suitable diversions for us, if we wish to leave our intellect out of it. I prefer NASCAR. Or gambling. Or posting shots of boobilliferous wimmen on my blog.

...and so the circle of Life is complete.
