If I'm WAAAYYY off base-here, somebody correct me. I see a lot of new blogs through my referrals or cruising somebody else's Site Meter (which is why you you shouldn't password YOURS, you paranoid bastards!) and I notice something that disturbs me.
Too many people recycle something else they read on another blog instead of writing their OWN blog. It's 90% all the same cut-and paste of the same shit I see everywhere else, followed by that absolutley APPALLING "Heh" or "Indeed" behind it. Sweet Bejus! You people have been reading Instapundit too long.
McDonald's became a successful restaurant by making every hamburger LOOK just alike and TASTE just alike everywhere you went. If you want a McDonald's blog, well... that's your choice. But I prefer something that tastes a little different. Leave a thumbprint in the burger-bun you serve me, and over-dose it with the Secret Sauce. Put some extra pickles on there. I might remember that one.
I won't remember the franchise blogs.
Franchise Blog....Great Name for a Blog. Just Damn!
There are a couple of "franchise" blogs I visit simply because they'll visit a myriad of places searching for nuggets that I usually don't have the time or inclination to look for. But every single blog I do frequent has been bookmarked because I followed a link and like what I read over and above the link that directed me there.
...and I don't read Instapundit, but I definitely prefer "heh" to "bwahahaha." For me, that is. The latter is all you, fo sho.
Heh. ; )
Damn, Key, you beat me to it.
Getting a smidge judgemental, A-Man?
I wrote my page for 5 years, looong before the word "blog" even existed. Sometimes the muse was upon me, sometimes it wasn't and I'd have to look elsewhere for inspiration. We'll see how prolific you manage to remain in a couple more years.
But I still love you. And I always will no matter how much you try to push me away....
Man, that post is dead on. I just started my own blog and I have to make conscious effort when I post to be sure that the post isn't the result of some pther blog post that I read a while back. But, I hate McD so I don't mind taking the extra time to make sure.
BloggerKing appears to be open.
Have it your way.
(of Course as Opus once said that;s
"Raw herring on a bun with lots of mayo")
It's the grand battle between Thinkers and Linkers. (a sorta clever phrase I first heard on Steven Den Beste's late blog). My page is a bit of both -- though lately too far towards the latter.
Often times I link things as much for my own reference as anyone else's -- when I want to show someone something interesting I saw on the net, I don't have to hunt around for the link -- there it is on my site.
That being said, I do try to write original stuff, but time constraints can make it a hell of a lot easier to just link and comment.
Maybe that's why I have roughly two readers.... ?
