got again!

I ranted about the difference between cats and dogs the other day and thought I had the upper hand in the argument until I read this comment, courtesy of Robin Roberts

You don't find a cat eating dog turds either.

I think I've been bested here. Old Bud was a damn good dog, but he thought the cat box was a salad bar. He slept a lot, but when I saw him drag is old, arthritic ass to his feet and head for the kitchen, I KNEW what he was about to do. If I didn't hurry to stop him, I would find him with his head in the litter box.

"BUD!!! What the hell do you think you're doing?" The half-deaf old fart would look at me with kitty litter all over his chin and a cat-turd sticking out of his mouth like a cigar. What is it about dogs that make them want to eat cat shit?

I don't know. But they damn sure do it.

I don't know about cats, but you can generally train a dog not to eat dog shit, if you have multiple dogs, by feeding them all some pineapple. Do that for a while, and it makes the turds completely inedible and unappealing to them, so they stop eating them.

Or so I have been told by someone who knows. I lived with my stepsister and her six dogs.

Remember -- I have a cat or several -- whatever is left after the coyotes go through. Perhaps Bud thought it was the quickest way to neutralize the odor . . . :-)

My dog, Sheila, used to ROLL in cat shit.

Then, she scared the cats away.

Thank God. I was tired of hosing her down every freaking time she found a fresh deposit.

Dogs have a troubling affinity for enjoying the incredibly stinky. They find it, eat it, roll in it. Then try and crawl into your lap and give you a kiss.

Cats just like to leave voodoo sacrifices on the doorstep to remind you that you didn't fill their dinner bowl in a timely fashion.

If i trip over one more puked-up lizard or dismantled rat on my doorstep, i'm gonna scream.

The reason why dogs eat cat shit is because cat food has a lot of sugar in it. Thus, cat shit tastes sweet to dogs. If dog food was chock full of the stinkiest crap ever produced in a factory (my dog's food doesn't stink, but my sister's cat food stinks so bad it makes me want to puke), then cats would eat dog shit too.

I am having the same problem with my Welch Corgi/Jack Russell Terrier puppies. It drives us nuts, especially when they come to give us kisses and they reak of that smell. I would appreciate hearing if anything has been successful. We live on a farm with many cats and too many to be pooper-scooping after each day.
