I drank only three beers in the Music Box last night. I stayed sober and played guitar for hours. I came home, blogged about the experience and went to bed.
I had a very vivid dream. I dreamed that I was in an airport bathroom desperately needing to piss and I couldn't do it. I finally concentrated as hard as I could and turned loose a golden stream. Man, that felt good.
I woke up pissing all over myself this morning. Have YOU ever done that?
No... I didn't think so. It's just me.
Yes, Acidman. Sometime, probably between 6-8 years old, I remember very vividly thinking that I was sitting on the toilet seat, and let go. Woke up REAL QUICK. I was in a wet bed, in the middle of the night; laying on my side, with my thighs and calves of my legs positioned, just as if I was sitting on the toilet seat.
My mother wasn't too happy about that episode. She couldn't really accept the fact that as old as I was, I couldn't have awakened to make it to the bathroom. But, I really thought I was in the bathroom, setting on the toilet seat!!!
Acidman, what is it about you and your writing that stimulates my (our) childhood memories, pushing them up out of the past? Not only do I remember childhood memories, as well as adult memories; I just told the world that I wet the bed during a dream!Posted by: Ms Anna on November 19, 2003 10:18 AM
Shit, Anna! I just told the world that I wet the bed LAST NIGHT!
I have no shame...Posted by: Acidman on November 19, 2003 10:35 AM
To quote Lewis Grizzard again:
'Damn, Brother...I don't think I'da told that...'
Just kidding. Your candor is part of your charm. I just love Lewis and quoting him...a lot.
Yeah, I can't believe you did that.
But you're NOT alone. My husband did that after a night of beer and buds. Unfortunately, we were STAYING in the guest room at a friend's house.
I don't know which was worse, the fact that he PISSED all over me, or the fact that he did so in someone else's house.Posted by: Key on November 19, 2003 11:05 AM
That happened to me when I was in my early 20's. It was the exact same thing. I was on the toilet pissing and low and behold I woke up all wet. Now when I have that dream I wake myself up in time to not piss the bed. Otherwise I am sure it would happen to me alot more than I would care to admit. You are not alone Acid Man. It is natural.Posted by: Tammy on November 19, 2003 11:34 AM
One good thing that shows is that you are sleeping more soundly than you have in a long, long time!
You'll actually have to retrain your body to cut through the dream even better to avoid doing that again.
I usually dream that the bathroom is either out of order or so nasty that I won't use it. I figure if I ever dream of a working, clean toilet, I'll wake up in a wet bed too.Posted by: shell on November 19, 2003 01:19 PM
When my brother had a gig and would drink lots of beer he'd go home and wet the bed.He had a small bladder. I can relate to wetting the bed. I usually get up at 3ish every night but still wear pantiliners when I have an occational accident. Beats changing the sheets.Dam you bring so many memories of my brother back. Thanks. There's not a day that goes by that I don't think of memories of him.Just glad you have a good humor about it. Humor keeps us artistic crazies sane.Posted by: Lexia on November 19, 2003 04:19 PM
I wet the bed once in my 20s, on a night after way too much alcohol. Can't remember the situation, except fortunately, I was alone.
No pissing in my bed yet, but startled by not having done so - on many occasions - after awakening in a panic thinking I must have let loose in bed, because my dreams of prolonged urgency, accompanied by dream pissing were so real that I thought I could not have not actually pissed - I have experienced "relief" in dreams, which is also strange. I just consider myself lucky so far.Posted by: Ga-ne-sha on November 19, 2003 08:57 PM
