Gut Rumbles

July 04, 2006

The following are photos from the party and one of me and mommie. Hope you all enjoy these. I have lots more but only a little time. Thanks again to all of you who came. I wanted to put a link up to all of you but we're still in the process of cleaning the crackerbox so I'll post more when I return home to Texas.

Let me clarify... These elegant, painted toes just happen to belong to Key, Livey and the lovely miss Georgia!

Those are wonderful pics Sam. Thank you so much for sharing them with us!

Great photos Sam....(and the FEET shot tickles me, too funny)

Your great grandmother looks fabulous...and so do you, actually.....

Posted by: Ruth on July 4, 2006 02:05 PM

Wow. I don't believe I've ever seen a photo of you Sam. You're so gorgeous and so is Mommie. Thanks so much for posting these. It's a comfort to those of us who couldn't be there. I hope you all find comfort and peace of mind in the days ahead.

That last picture was a classic for a farewell tribute to Rob. His spirit must be around to enjoy it.

Posted by: Woody on July 4, 2006 02:17 PM

Posted by: Geoffrey on July 4, 2006 03:39 PM

Thank you for posting these Sam, we really appreciate it. The box, feet, music, friends chatting and of course, family, seem a fitting send off for him.

All the pictures are great...but the last one is a truly fitting tribute!

Posted by: Mrs_Who on July 4, 2006 09:25 PM

All those girls second toes are bigger than the biggies. Am I the only one that freaks out? Sheesh! Yes, I have my issues, but damn!

Posted by: Velociman on July 4, 2006 10:31 PM

Thanks for the pics, Sam--looking forward to seeing more. Sharing this time with those who weren't able to be there is definitely appreciated!

Your Dad would have loved all the red toenails.

Sam and Mommie are good lookin' gals. Good genes run in the family. The naked ape feet with the painted claws were a nice touch. Summer this time of year frequently sends something squirting up between barefoot toes if you're inclined to backyard marching. That's a fantastic box. Rob was loved. And this was expected. It is fine and a joyously beautiful fact. I suspect Rob must have loved it all- especially the music.

... you know, I have to side with Velociman here....

Posted by: Eric on July 5, 2006 07:56 AM

Sam, thanks for posting the photos for those of us who weren't there.

I wish I could make this whole thing easier for you, but I know that's impossible.

Be well and know we care.

Posted by: Joanie on July 5, 2006 08:22 AM

Thanks for thinking of Us, we're thinking of you & your family too. God Bless you all....

Thanks, Sam. Big time thanks.

Rob indeed left a legacy. Many legacies.

Nu-uh! Those be Livey's toes with the second bigger.

Mine and Sam's first two digits are even, or close to it.

I've always heard that the first two are even if you are from the South, and the second toe is bigger if you have a Yankee in yo family tree. ; )

Posted by: Key on July 5, 2006 12:26 PM

It's a cryin' shame that you are denying men the happiness of ... you.

Seriously, that's some photo.

Posted by: Rollory on July 5, 2006 01:08 PM

Thanks for sharing Sam and best of everything!

RIP Rob.

Posted by: Florida Bill on July 5, 2006 01:54 PM

My condolences. We'll miss him, but not nearly as much as you will I know. Great pics of the feet, love the long second toe. You're beautiful - take care of yourself. Over and out.

Posted by: John Hay on July 5, 2006 02:26 PM

(Pssst... Hey, Key... that was Georgia, not Sam... *grin*)

Posted by: Stevie on July 5, 2006 04:43 PM

I figured at least one of those feet belonged to Key. :)

And has the Crackerbox even been cleaned since the last time you and Stacey did it? I remember the trauma of that cleaning..... 8 )

Posted by: Symph on July 5, 2006 04:50 PM

Well, I'm on the left, I know that! Is that Georgia with the Yankee toes? My bad. But I know those little bitty toes have to be Sam's.

Posted by: Key on July 5, 2006 06:00 PM

Thanks for the pics. It is still a shock but this is a fitting tribute. I regret that I didn't try to look Rob up as I drove down 95 past Savannah back on the 18th of June. I had my wife and kids with me and didn't want to be an uninvited visit. Really regret it. Keep the memories warm. We will.

a fine box, picking and grinning, generations of fine strong women and red toenails.

he touched a lot of people, this old bitter bastid included. proud to say i'm blogchild of the man Rob and the character Acidman.

Just Damn! (r.i.p.)

What a generous spirit you have to continue to share this time with us! Not surprising, though, since the person who brought us together was just as amazing in his own special way. No wonder he was so proud of you (and the rest of his family), you are exceptional. Your inner beauty is equal to your outer!

Each photo that you've shared represents a most fitting tribute to the man we all cared about so much. Thanks for allowing us to be involved as we all grieve the loss, but celebrate the spirit that was your dad! Your consideration helps with our own personal transition, I for one truly appreciate this.

May he rest in peace.

Actually, Key, that was you, Georgia and "she whose name I'd rather not get into"... (begins with "L"...)

That was when she asked me if I'd polished my toenails and I said, "No, I polished my BOOTS" and then she asked me if I preferred she not speak to me, to which I answered "yes", so she then proceeded to instead follow me eveywhere I went... *rolls eyes*

You're on the left, Georgia is to your left and the other is her. I remember it only too well....

Hugs on ya...

Posted by: Stevie on July 6, 2006 12:25 PM

Top pair: both longer. Right pair: 2nd toe on right foot is longer. Bottom pair: 2nd toe on left foot is longer. So we not only have the mark of the werewolf, but a decided lack of symmetry as well.

Of course I'm always available for real time authentication, and will paint and post mine red if I am wrong.

Posted by: Velociman on July 6, 2006 03:33 PM

Ah, okay. Thanks Stevie.

And Vman, you are wrong in SO many ways. But I think you owe Rob the tribute regardless, you know, for monkeying around in his comments, failing to pay a lady a compliment, etc.

I'll make certain that you get your pedicure in Helen. (You could have asked a little more nicely of course; we would've hooked you up!)

Posted by: Key on July 6, 2006 07:39 PM

Thanks for posting the pictures Sam. You are very gracious to continue to keep all of us updated in what is obviusly a very hard time for you. Thank you SO much and yes you ARE gorgeous!!

I've heard that those whose second toe is larger than the big toe wear the pants in the family. My toes are each just a slight bit shorter than the first )which I thought was normal) so I guess I've got the semmetry under control.
I also LOVE the idea of a red polish being named after Rob...that would be awesome. If there's anything I can do...let me know.

Posted by: Dawn on July 6, 2006 11:42 PM

Stevie: just can't let it go, can ya?

The little set-to reminded me so much of 8th grade.

Do you like me?

Check 1. for yes, 2. for just as a friend.

Thanks for sharing all the wonderful photos Sam, you've done your father's memory well.

Posted by: Jack on July 7, 2006 11:37 AM

Oh Sam -- the pictures are wonderful!

I can tell your Dad would have approved of the day.
He is missed, terribly.

(was going through my "draft" email folder last night and found an unsent reply to your Father, from a year ago. It made me weepy. Maybe I should send it anyway.)

Posted by: Moxie on July 7, 2006 03:56 PM

Okay... when do we get to see the Veloci-toes painted red?

He said "If I 'm wrong", then Key pointed out that he was, sooo...
I'm just sayin'...

Posted by: Stevie on July 7, 2006 08:01 PM

Holy Crap! I've been in the hospital for two weeks so I've not stopped by in awhile, then I find this. I don't know what happended, I'm hoping to find out in the archives but my thoughts are with you Sam, I've been reading a long time and am suprised to hear this news.

Posted by: Brandy on July 7, 2006 09:29 PM

Vman, Eric, Key, Rollory, Symph, Richard, Dawn, Stevie.
Get a life and learn to do some math.
