the real villan

The next time you buy gas and feel the overpowering urge to curse greedy Big Oil for raping your wallet, remember this.

It AIN'T greedy Big Oil that's raping you.

if you can't beat 'm, join 'm. buying shares in oil companies was one of my best investments.

I was getting gas in NC a year or two ago and they list the amount of taxes on the side of the pump. The cost was around $1.60-$1.80 and the taxes were 85 cents. So right around half of the cost was taxes.
And then they bash the oil companies for making like 7 cents on the dollar.

In Canada, taxes make up one third of the gasoline price (39.1% here in Quebec).

Consider yourselves lucky.

We pay 92 pence a litre here. 80% of the money is direct and indirect tax and goes to the government.
