it's a go

I have my e-tickets for the airplane, my room (with wireless internet service) is booked and I'm all set to attend the blown-eyed blodgers meet in Austin in April. Now I'm just wondering... what to wear, oh, what to wear...

Looking at the list of likely attendees, I expect this gathering to be a good one--- with intellectual conversation, philosophical debate, keen analysis of current events, witty bon mots and perhaps mass skinny-dipping in the hotel pool. Dignity, with debauchery.

I'm bringing a bottle of red nail polish. I intend to open the Acidman Toenail Painting Salon for the ladies who wish to wear the mark of the beast my handiwork on their pretty feet. I might even bring a guitar, too.

Hope to see you there!

Think you can avoid drinking?

For what it's worth, my Mom is a big time alky, and she has managed to stay sober for years.

Ooooooo! Toenail paintin' by THE A-man?!

Better watchout Lil Toni, he will do more than just paint your toe nails.

My daughter's job is to see that I DON'T get my toenails painted, not that I would ever let such a vile thing happen.

I reckon Texas is big enough for you and Livey both but I am not sure those Texas bloggers know what they are in for. Sure wish I was a going.

This'll be fiesta to remember, though I very much doubt if 80% of the attendees will remember most of it once they sober up.

Be sure and check out the nightly bat launching from under the Congress St. bridge where it crosses Town Lake. It's right near the hotel. Millions of the little suckers.

See you there!

Livey,

Keep Kelly and this old bastard away from my damned toenails.

very nice! glad you are definite, can't wait to see you.

Finally ! I get to meet one of my Blog heroes.

I will NOT be getting my toenails done....unless I imbibe as much as I did at the Fla. Rott Fest...in that case I shudder to think in what state I may return home in, given the sense of humor displayed by this crowd...

Yes, Bane. He CAN DO IT!

He WILL DO IT!

Rob, you need to borrow THAT red hat with the purple feather.

Hmph... wasn't invited. And A-man can go to Austin, but can he come to Dallas?

I think the answer is quite clear...

See ya there! o' and Kim! Everyone was invited!

Well, Austin is really close to Houston (cough, cough) and I do have a couple of friends (cough) up there. Can I bring a bottle of nail polish?

And you MUST eat at Dan's at the corner of Menchaca (pronounced "Man-Shack") and Ben White Blvd. They are to die for!

And if it's open that time of yer, head out to Ski Shores (in Emma Long Park). Some really great blues/acoustic bands (e.g., Steven Doster, Leighton Hamilton) play there on weekends.

Once you experience the Austin music scene, Rob, I have a feeling you won't want to go back home -- except to pack up the rest of your stuff and head back to Texas!! ;-P
