September 20, 2005excusesI haven't been posting much lately because I have been very sick. When you hurt all over and need to carry a puke-bucket everywhere you go, it kinda saps the creative juices. I THINK I'm feeling better now, but I'm not sure. I almost passed out in the checkout line of Kroger's today. I went to the store early this morning (that's easy to do when you can't sleep at night) and I put some essentials in my cart. I got to the checkout counter (I was damn near the only person in the store who wasn't an employee) and I had another brown-out while just standing there. I kinda slumped over the grocery cart and turned gray. I broke out in a sweat. I couldn't see. If I had NOT had the grocery cart to hang onto, I would have hit the floor. I think I scared the shit out of the cashier. "Sir! Are you all right?" I could have given her an epistle in response to THAT question, but I was more concerned with staying upright at the time. I tingled all over. I was VERY dizzy. My legs were wobbling. "I'm fine. Just give me a minute or so," I replied. "Ring up the groceries and tell me how much I owe you." By the time she finished doing that, I could see again and I wasn't so dizzy anymore. My legs were still wobbling, but I didn't think I was about to pitch head-first onto the floor anymore. I paid for my groceries and wheeled the cart out to my car in the parking lot and unloaded the groceries into the trunk. I was so out of breath by then that I couldn't move for a while. I managed to crawl into the car, but I had to sit there huffing and puffing for a while before my vision seemed clear enough to drive. The same thing happened again when I arrived back home. As I was hauling the groceries inside, another brownout hit me and I found myself sitting on my ass in my yard with a plastic bag full of bread and bologna in my hand. I did not remember sitting down. This shit is starting to worry me.

Have you had your blood sugar levels checked recently? Posted by: El Capitan on September 20, 2005 03:15 PMGOD FORBID THAT I SHOULD BE GIVING OUT UNASKEDFOR ADVICE.... BUT YOU REALLY NEED TO GO SEE A DOC. I KNOW... I KNOW... BUT YOU REALLY NEED TO BE CHECKED OUT. HOW ABOUT IT?
You may need to take a good old fashion shit. Take some meds that will work that liver and colon. watchout, don't shit your pants this time, Cat Posted by: catfish on September 20, 2005 03:23 PMGood thing that didn't happen while you were driving. You could have killed yourself, not to mention injuring or killing others. Quit putting off the doctor visit. Posted by: Trish on September 20, 2005 03:26 PMFor god sakes man, go see a doc! Posted by: Pooter Vanhenski on September 20, 2005 03:28 PMI have to agree with all of the above, but especially el capitan. As a diabetic, I can tell you that your symptoms sounds like hypo-glycimia (sp?). While diabeties is generally high blood sugar [hyper-glycimia (sp?)], if it's too low, these symptoms manifest themselves. If you eat something or drink something with sugar in it, do you feel better in 10 or 15 minutes? Have your sugar tested...specifically your hemoglobin A1c. That takes a 3 month average measurement rather an immediate one. "Physician, heal thyself!" Please get check out, dude! Posted by: JJW on September 20, 2005 03:40 PMTHIS IS NOT NORMAL! You need to get your ass to a doctor, man. This could be as simple as low blood sugar, or you could be having mini-strokes. Fer cryin' out loud, it is time to ask for help for your own sake and for Quentin's. Don't wait till tomorrow, go on and do it. Posted by: Stu on September 20, 2005 03:44 PMYou are all wasting your time...I have tried to tell his ass that, and he won't listen. I just get his usual "Fuck off, what the fuck do you know" shit. If the little shit wants to die, let him.......... Posted by: Wayne on September 20, 2005 03:51 PM> This shit is starting to worry me. Any number of conditions can cause what you describe. Likely, we will be concerned until you let us know all's well. djs Posted by: DJSloan/Houston on September 20, 2005 03:52 PMAllow me to eighth(?) the sentiment that you should go see a doctor. I know you have a fertile imagination, but whatever the cause, reality is unlikely to be any worse than your imagination, and probably will be much better (or at least less bad). Posted by: LibraryGryffon on September 20, 2005 03:55 PMI get that once in the while, and I think it is because my blood sugar is off. Try drinking pure orange juice (not the stuff full of added sugar) or pure pomegranate juice in the morning. After I drink the juice, I feel better in about 10 minutes. I know how you feel, it ain't no fun. Posted by: Alaska Kim on September 20, 2005 04:39 PMPlease follow the advice of the proceeding comments and (this might sound cornie to some and maybe you, but) I'll pray for you... Posted by: Captain Harley on September 20, 2005 04:48 PMI had a similar experience... it was a TSA a mini-stroke. Get yourself to the doctor. The next one might kill you. Posted by: shawn on September 20, 2005 05:49 PMOkay dumbass. Its time to go to the fucking doctor. I hate going to them too but when you got to, you got to. Hope you get better. Posted by: assrot on September 20, 2005 06:24 PM.. damn, bro.... Posted by: Eric on September 20, 2005 08:04 PM'STARTING'? ? ? ? ? to worry YOU? Posted by: Maggie on September 20, 2005 08:18 PMAlright, I have no business butting in, but I'm charging all you people who know this stubborn macho fool to bodily drag his sorry ass to a doctor. It couldn't take more than four good men to restrain him. Posted by: Libby on September 20, 2005 08:19 PM"It couldn't take more than four good men to restrain him" Probably just one guy Libby if you catch him like that. Rob, I had what I'm guessing was an anxiety attack for the first time ever on Sunday night...it came with symptoms much like yours (but also others). Might be that, like Donnie says. I've also had blood sugar incidents a couple of times now and they too have symptoms like that. Both times they happened at work (from eating too many sweets I think, which I almost never do outside of work.. I dunno) But what Alaska Kim said is exactly what worked for me both times. 100% orange juice cleared it up in about 10 minutes both times. If it's happening with any kind of regularity, I too think you should see the doc. Posted by: marcl on September 20, 2005 09:58 PMI will echo just about everyone else. GO SEE A DOCTOR!!! holy f*cking jeezuz flaming christmas dude!!!!!! i neglected to add that i hope you feel better, very very soon. Posted by: erica on September 20, 2005 10:43 PMRobert, I'm driving cross-country next week to our new home in Simi Valley, CA... I'm not a doctor but do have 4 of those pricks in my family... if you don't see a doctor by next week... I swear I kidnap one of my relatives and make an excursion to Savanah and force you to indure a house call! Go see a DOCTOR... A REAL ONE WITH A BONAFIDE LICENSE TO PRACTICE! I do not want to get to California and have to read about your kicking of the bucket... the world would be a lonely and boring place without you! ANDY Posted by: andy on September 20, 2005 11:40 PMBah, fuck the MD route. Tough it out and die soon like a man. Posted by: rightisright on September 21, 2005 12:49 AMAre you taking any diuretics? This sounds like very low blood pressure. It's EXACTLY what happened to me when the doctor was tinkering with my blood pressure medicine, and put me on diuretics. Not everyone can take them. I was only on those pills a week. I was cooking dinner, and I felt dizzy, so I sat down. Within seconds, I couldn't see and screamed for my husband to come help me. The last thing I remember was trying to walk to the sofa in the next room to lie down. I woke up on the floor. The two younger kids were crying, the oldest one was staring at me, and hubby was on the phone with 911. I saw the doctor the next day, and he took me off the diuretics, and I thanked God I wasn't driving at the time. Please. SEE A DOCTOR! Posted by: Bitchmama on September 21, 2005 03:39 AMYeah, leaning towards the low blood sugar here. My mother has the same symptoms from time to time, and my grandmother is diabetic (not the same symptoms). Mom eats a Snickers bar, and is good to go. This stuff is easily controlled with a good diet. It's worth looking into, man. Posted by: LC Corey on September 21, 2005 07:54 AMI know that you have talked about going to the doctor before. Well, this time go to a DIFFERENT one that knows what the heck they are doing!! Sounds to me like a sugar episode and as a diabetic, I know what I am talking about. Has happened to me a few times and it is scarey as hell. QUIT BEING SO PIGHEADED AND GO!!!! Posted by: Anastasia on September 21, 2005 10:59 AMThe longer you wait, the higher the bill's gonna be. Suck it up, step on that cracker pride and go to the nearest available sawbone. Don't like what he tells you? Get a second opinion, that's all. You do want to stick around long enough to use all that fancy new audio equipment, don't you? Posted by: V-Man on September 21, 2005 12:08 PMRob, If you die because you won't take care of yourself, who is going to teach Quinon how to be a Smith man? It sure as hell won't be Jennifer's honeys. Get your ass to the doctor! Your son needs his father---as does your daughter! Robin Posted by: Robin on September 21, 2005 01:06 PMGet ur ass to a doc before your die or worse - stroke out a have to live as a human potted plant. Posted by: Cody on September 21, 2005 03:23 PMIf you don't get to Dr, I hope you have a living will. Posted by: Larry on September 22, 2005 12:45 AMPost a comment
