assholes

I don't like unions. I never have and I never will. I believe that they do really insane things, such as protecting "workers" who SHOULD be fired for not working and setting the lowest possible common denominator for performance while demanding the highest possible wages and benefits.

Who the hell do think REALLY pays for their crap? You and I do, in the end. But this is how unions think.

After months of talks broke off in Washington, D.C., just before midnight Friday, union spokesman Jim Young said the mechanics would rather see the airline go into bankruptcy than agree to Northwest's terms. The Airline Mechanics Fraternal Association represents about 11 percent of Northwest's 40,000 workers.

That's smart thinking. Run EVERYBODY out of a job rather than understand and accept the law of supply and demand. Assholes.

But that's what unions have become today. A bunch of lazy, whining assholes. And they don't even see what they are doing, while they stay busy cutting their own throats.

The old days are gone. These dinosaurs don't realize that fact.

Yep, until the public understands that labor is a commodity just as is oil and soy beans we will continue to have labor problems. Business is in business to make money-not to provide jobs. Anyone who doesn't like this should go into business for themselves. When the cost of labor is allowed to slide up and down the cost scale with supply and demand economies boom. When the price of labor is ser artifically high business either is forced to close the doors are seek another place to operate, RE China.

I agree that the unions have became a disaster for the American workers. I was reared in a UMW family and at that time it was the only hope of the coal miners. Now the only thing they worry about is how much the leaders can bleed from the companies so they can raise dues and steal it. Ever heard of a union boss in the past 40 years that didn't end up in prison? They are all criminals. Why the workers still listen to them is beyond my feeble mind.

They've outlived their purpose and serve now to drive jobs overseas.

If I was one of the other 35,600 workers NOT in that union, I'd be looking for those bastards with a lead pipe.

Any company or industry that has a union has done something to deserve it.

I agree, StinKerr. And it was something stupid, too.

Dear Northwest mechanics - You want to put an airline out of business just like the mechanics did at Eastern? Have fun drawing unemployment dickheads.

I used to moonlight for UPS at an airport loading air containers and trucks. It was a teamsters shop. That was hard work and I must have lifted and loaded 10 tons of freight every shift. It was like going to a gym and working out The company was well run and the supervisors treated me with respect because I worked hard. The steward was a big 6'5" dipshit who mainly just pushed his weight around and gave himself the easiest jobs in the hub. The union seemed to just protect only the people who were heroin addicts, drunks, cronically tardy and absent. One night after finishing loading my air containers they sent me to small sort. That is the area where they sort overnight envelopes. That area has all the people who have seniority since it is the easiest job in the hub (I called it sissy sort). The people over there were mostly union radicals. The buzzer for break rang so I sat down and took my 10 minute break. I was very tired because I been up for about 18 hours working my day job and was now near the end of my second job. The 1 minute warning buzzer went off and I woke up and went back to work. Some lady saw that I went to work too early and went running to the steward and told on me. So the big dipshit comes up to me and told me to go to hell. I'm only 5'5" and about 150 lbs of solid muscle., I got up on my tiptoes and got in his face and yelled FUCK YOU!! , DON'T FUCK WITH ME!!, YOU'RE A BIG JOKE!! About 20 people witnessed this. That steward never said a word and backed down and never messed with me again. Those union radicals in that area never bothered me either. I guess they were scared of me because somebody finally stood up to that big bully. After that everybody treated him like shit, because he was an asshole. The steward quit about two months later.

supply and demand? more people are flying now than ever and NWA claims they can't make money. it's easy enough to lose money when you really want to so that you can go broke and throw away pensions and such. some of these companies NEED to go under. learn a little about the actual situation before you go spouting off nonsense. NWA doesn't want to pay mechanics, it's that simple. even though maintenance is a "necessary evil" of it's operation. it's not supply and demand, it's corporate fucking greed and some of these greedy bastards to need to take it in the ass! the little guy has been getting raped for long enough. i agree, let NWA go broke...

Remember the union that forced its way into a Canadian Wal-Mart?

The store employees voted to NOT have union representation. However, Canadian law permitted the unionto go in anyway, since a minority percentage of employees had expressed interest.

Wal-Mart closed the store, saying it was an unprofitable location anyway, which would have been made more unprofitable by union demands.
