July 29, 2005but it's so cute!Recondo 32 owns a white Crown Vic. He likes driving it around because everybody thinks it's a cop car and they give him a wide, respectful bearth. I would, too. The damn thing LOOKS like a cop car. I don't think this thing earns the same respect. A yellow BUG??? Yeah, that fucking rolling flower-pot is going to strike fear in MY heart. Bejus. Wimmen. Does it have a hemi? Posted by: Ruth on July 29, 2005 10:33 AMPS....Looks like the guys from "Queer Eye" got their hands on that police dept. Uh...how do you get a big, uncooperative perp into the back of that thing? (I'm just askin') Posted by: Ruth on July 29, 2005 10:35 AMAll I can do is laugh. I like Volkswagen bugs and I've always thought they were cool. Not very impressive as a cop car though. I think I would fall down laughing at any cop that showed up in that thing. Posted by: assrot on July 29, 2005 10:44 AMI bet my Ram pickup could out run this cop Posted by: GUYK on July 29, 2005 10:46 AMMy hometown of Scottsboro, Ala. had a bug on the police force in the early seventies. VW heard about it and used it in a magazine add campaign. That campaign was famous at the time. It used black-and-white photos and college-level text to make the pitch. It was so successful a campaign that National Lampoon published a parody. A Bug floated in the water over the text: "If Ted Kennedy drove a Volkswagen, he would be President today." Posted by: Brett on July 29, 2005 01:13 PMYou think that the sight of a police car should strike fear into someone's heart? Ve-e-e-ry interessssting. (Arte Johnson voice) Posted by: bob on July 29, 2005 06:17 PMBob, that's WHY cops patrol, you blithering asswit. Posted by: Acidman on July 29, 2005 08:49 PMReminds me of when La Conner, a little town in NW Washington bought a bunch of Renault "Le Cars" as cop cars some years back. Those pieces of shit fell apart faster than the dealer could get parts. The La Conner cops were given somewhat less professional respect than Barney Fife as well. Not a good move. A policeman's gear should inspire respect, not ridicule. Posted by: Gerry N. on July 31, 2005 02:51 AMGerman Polezi routinely patrol in Bugs. Their method of conducting a stop is to pull alongside you holding up a sign ala Wile Coyote saying HALT!. When you do not pull over immediately, they pull out an MP-5 and disable your vehicle, often ending a life or three. Post a comment
