one foul mood

I went to the seed & feed store today to buy some insecticide and some ammo (the place sells EVERYTHING!) I also wanted some gun-cleaner, because I shot a lot of bullets at the Catfish Manor last weekend and I need to clean my guns.

They were out of gun cleaner. They didn't have any .30-30 cartridges. I bought a box of .38 specials and a box of .380s, ($8.00 a box--- not a bad price) and cussed the owner of the place. Got-Dam! NO .30-30s? NO gun cleaner? Then take down that fucking sign that says "HUNTING SUPPLIES" over the front door.

He recommended that I go to Wal-Mart. I laughed in his face. Wal-Mart is phasing out ALL ammo except .22s and shotgun shells in their stores. Besides, I'd rather kiss a dog's ass than spend money on ANYTHING to do with a gun at a Wal-Mart. They make you feel like a fucking criminal if you buy a box of .22 shells.

Looks like I'm going to have to head over to Mack's Gun Shop or take Cat's advice and hit that store in Midway to get what I want. I really don't believe that 150-grain .30-30 cartridges in a full metal jacket should be that difficult to find. Nor should gun-cleaner. I've GOT a box of 175-grain .30-30 round-heads if I want to KILL something. I just want to do some target practice.

It's just getting too civilized where I live now. I'm thinking 'bout selling my house and moving farther out in the woods.

I shoulda been a cowboy.

I thought you were a Cowboy.

Yeah Rob, moving farther out into the woods will seem like a great idea (right up until that moment when that kid with the banjo from "Deliverance" is tuning up outside your window)

Hell, did that but failed to buy nough acres and now there is an asshole with a boom box that likes to play rap at midnight about anacre away. Should have bought the damn ground when I had the chance. I am thinking about puting some 200 amp speakers in the trees and aim some CCR at him about two in the morning. Let him wake up to Rolling on the River

If you just want to go plinking, get some 110 grain .30 cal round nose. I doubt you'll find any pre-loaded, but any gunsmith worth a damn can probably crank you out a box or six for a marginal fee.

They're fast, really fast, and feed well in lever guns.

Wal-Mart sux....bought a gun from there this Christmas for hubby and son....bought a 22 for hubby and he bought son a 420 (he's 9, Mom (me) didn't like it, Mom sucked it up because he's gotta be a man one day,and Mom let Dad get it-Dad said, "what the hell do you think I'm gonna do, hand him a loaded gun and say "here Son, go shoot something?" ) Okay...I have to say, He's teaching son the right way to handle & respect a gun...and he shot his first squirrel (have pics, wanna see?) and yes, husband is a redneck from way back...he is going to eat the squirrel...(if he wasn't it really wouldn't have bothered me anyway...)UGH..anyway...back to the point...I felt like Osama-fucking-Bin-Laden trying to get hubby's gun...had to offer so much proof of where I lived and what-not...then got escorted out by some 15 year old kid...yeah..if I wanted to start something with my newly purchased gun, he'd be a big deterrent....

My God! What has it come to? Listen to this...

Don't do WalMart much and I don't do much retail ammo. Gun shows and mail order are my mainstays. If you're not in a hurry I would recommend Natchez Shooters Supply up in Tennesee or MidSouth. Prices are usually pretty competitive and the Big Brown Truck will bring 'em right to your door. I always try to keep the ammo locker well stocked, just like the beer fridge.

Lot's of places online to order ammo:
ammoman.com
sportsmansguide.com
aimsurplus.com
among others, and like Jim said, they'll send it right to your door. And if you need to order it, midwayusa.com and brownells.com have all the cleaning stuff you can imagine/need.

Damn shame when you cant throw a box of 22's in the fire anymore. Thinking of selling my antique savage 32 semi. Or jusst throwing it in the river. Sammy is going to try and take them all anyway

Jeepers. Any store that sells ammo NOT having a box of .30-30 is a heathen outrage.

Hell, I can find .30-30 ammo on shelves in Mexico!

Buy it by the case - www.kingsammo.com - and make the idiot take his sign down!
