more "Gunsmoke"

I am addicted to that show now. I confess--- I watch the old reruns AT LEAST twice a day now and I never get tired of them. I love every character on there and I like seeing people who went on to become big starts playing bit parts. You can almost taste the prarie dust and smell the horseshit in a "Gunsmoke" rerun.

Pretty Miss Kitty carries a pistol in her purse. I've seen her whip it out twice now, and once she shot somebody dead with it. It appears to be a small-caliber revolver, a lady's gun, maybe a .32 or so, but Kitty doesn't hesitate to use it. No wonder Matt is so intrigued with her.

Festus Hagin may look like a rube, but don't make him angry. He's a bad-ass when the situation calls for that kind of behavior. Festus will shoot you and THEN spur your eyeballs out if your're looking for a real fight.

Doc Adams reminds me of ME anymore. Crotchety old bastard. Cantankerous old coot. Smart-mouthed and wise-assed. Yep. Me and Doc have a lot in common--- he's just better at medicine than I am.

I'd like to go fishing with every one of those characters. Except Matt. He's too driven to suit me. I don't think he KNOWS how to relax. But he has the balls of a longhorn bull. He takes no shit from nobody, and at last count, I've seen him kill 182 people on that show.

I can't wait to watch it again tonight.

Festus always struck me as fairly astute too.
I loved that series and grew up watching it with my Dad every week.

I saw one show where Kitty was counting the times Matt had been shot. At that time I think it was twelve. Probably that many drugstore cowboys that have shot themselves in the foot while standing in front of a TV screen trying to outdraw the marshall.

For awhile I was hung up on the old Andy Griffith Show and I had this peculiar attraction to Ernest T Bass.....(call me crazy if you must) "How do you do, Mrs. Wiley?" (you all MUST remember that episode...no?)

Yeah Matt killed a lot of bad hombres, but Lucas McCain A.K.A The Rifleman was a reall killin' machine too. That mean ass sneer on his kisser and a lever action 30-30. You could be sure any strangers ridin' into North Fork would be dead by the end of the show. I think if that show would have lasted as long as Gunsmoke he would have killed a lot more than Matt.

I feel the same way about Gunsmoke, watching it every morning at 6:00 and sometimes at night ,but if I watch the nightime one then that's the one that will show the next morning. What great stories and times. I wish I could step right into it. It is now so much of my everyday routine.

I have recently become a Gunsmoke and Bonanza junkie. I get up so early in the morning that they're both on and I've found myself glued to the set most mornings.

Good shows you aren't afraid to let your kids watch.

Yep, Acidbrain reminds me more of Ernest T. Bass than Doc. Ole Doc may have been crotchety, but at least he doesn't seem like the type to shoot cats or be cruel to animals like Acidbrain.

Shooting cats is not cruel-it puts the worthless beasts out of their misery.
