Gut Rumbles

i'll believe it when i see it

George W. Bush is FINALLY threatening to veto a bloated spending bill, which will be a first for his presidency if he actually does it. So far in office, he has displayed the "fiscal responsibility" of a drunken sailor on shore leave.

"This bill will have an impact on every city and every town and every state." said Sen. James Jeffords, I-Vt., the minority leader on the Environment Committee. "I urge President Bush to reconsider his veto threat against this legislation."

Let me translate that statement for you: PORK!!!

What is really laughable about this affair is that Bush is perfectly willing to sign a bill to spend $284 billion. But $295 billion is just too much. Yep. That's fiscal responsibility in MY book.

What's a measley $11 billion?

Yep! And this is a highway bill that makes more sense and will do more for the public than numerous other bills that he has approved. Seems to me the wrong bill to take a stand on but at least its a stand. Maybe all of the screaming by real republicans and libertarians has taken its toll on bubba.

I still hope Rice gets elected. The white guys have been failing us for years; let's see if a black chick can do any better.

As a former drunken sailor I must protest. When I hit a liberty port I divided my cash by the number of days I had ashore and considered the distance to the next payday. I call that fiscal responsibility.

Besides, it was MY money which also makes a difference.

When it comes to politicians they're like crack whores spending other people's money. I sure wish there was a cure for that. Elections don't seem to be the answer because they all end up doing it.

I apologize to drunken sailors everywhere and agree with Stinkerr. At least a drunken sailor pisses away HIS OWN MONEY!!!
