I'm going to Randall's

Tomorrow, I'm going down to Randall's Liquor Store and buy some really good bourbon. I don't know why, but I would really enjoy a tall glass on the rocks right now. I have a craving for that smokey-sweet taste.

I'm not going tonight, because I don't like to drive after dark anymore and I suppose that yesterday's rain made a complete washout/mudhole/death-trap out of the dirt road leading there, so I'll wait until tomorrow. As a Kentucky boy, I need to be dragged off and shot for NOT just keeping some bourbon around. I have a duty to do that.

I think I'll stock up tomorrow. A bottle of Jim Beam. A bottle of Maker's Mark. Those, I'll keep in the liquor cabinet and serve to friends when they come over and want a drink of brown likker. Good stuff, worthy of sharing.

And a bottle of Booker's Best, just for ME. I'll hide that fucker from my friends. That whiskey will pass no other lips than MINE!

I'm going to do that tomorrow.

Damn you.

Now I have a craving for a sip o' bourbon and I don't have any around. I may be a heathen, but I love Turkey 101 on the rocks. It's a bit harsh tippled neat, but the ice cuts it nicely.

I also enjoy a good single malt Scotch straight.

Different drinks for different times.

After a workout or pickup game of Bball, I like a freakin' ice cold American beer like Bud. With a fat steak and potatos, give me a Guinness.

I say screw all "liquor snobs". Drink what you like and drink it in good health.

Have ya ever tried Woodford Reserve bourbon? Very tasty, nice nose, highly recommended! I've not had Bookers Best yet...worth it eh?

The Wizard speaks wisely.

For some unknown reason the liquor store is closed today-the Monday after Easter. I made a mistake not checking the holiday closing schedule and finished off my last bottle of Jack Daniels last night. I have to make a choice of wine or Bud Light. I think I'll go with the wine-I can get drunker faster with it.

Rob, just another bourbon heads-up for ya. Bulliet Bourbon is another of my personal favorites after being introduced to it a few years ago, and now that it's finally available here in California, I've got my own bottle of it.

You might consider trying it if you see it. Not as potent as Bookers, but, very nice, and I like the limestone water flavor in the finish. Definitely a "frontier whiskey" if there ever was one!

Rob, I've tried all of the aforementioned.

The Booker's? Got a bottle on my 40th...was 127 proof. And it was far too volitale as a pure sippin' whiskey...

The Buillet? Muddy bourbon, in my never-to-be-humble-opinion. Having lived 23 years in San Antonio, with it's Edwards Aquifer limestone-water supply, it tastes like *any* bourbon and (local) water from there. ICK.

Dollar for dollar, dram for dram, Maker's is the ticket. Three or four bucks more than Beam, and a mile better.

And remember. Friends don't let friends drink Jack Daniels!

Jim Beam and Makers Mark are for the usual company. Wild Turkey is for special company. Fighting Cock (103) is for you when you really need it. Jim Beam Rye (yellow label) is for those special moments with Rosie.
