good question

How do I answer this question?

Hey! I went over to Sam's site. Why don't you help her out with the Vet bill for her dog, he's in PAIN!

What are you? Cheap or something?

Yeah, Jim, I suppose that I must be "cheap." It's a father's job to throw money at his daughter every time she hits a bump in the road, isn't it? I remember the many, many times my parents threw money at ME when my dog had a boil on its ass. Let's see.... that must have been.... ZERO times!!! Oh, yes. I remember them well.

My parents believed that I should be RESPONSIBLE for my own choices and my own behavior. What a shitty attitude they had. They never "felt my pain" when I was broke. They expected me to get off my ass and do something about my own pitiful situation.

The dog belongs to Samantha. SHE has the responsibility of taking care of it. If she cannot afford to do so, she either a) never should have gotten the dog to begin with--- or b) give the dog to someone who CAN afford to take care of it. Or, as a last resort--- c) shoot the fucking dog.

If that makes me "cheap" or cold-hearted or whatever you want to call me, so be it. I personally believe that Sam is learning a lesson about THE REAL WORLD, where you don't always get what you want unless you can pay for it yourself.

I'll bet you voted for John Kerry, didn't you?

Evidently he doesn't know what cold hearted is...
Just Damn!

Amen to that. If you can't afford the health care for a pet, you shouldn't have gotten it in the first place.

I just got my kids a snake. Who'd have thunk that I'd have had to spend 2 hours in the car yesterday and $150 on an exotic animal vet visit for a fuckin snake? Huh? I sure as hell didn't, but I did anyways. But I knew ahead of time that a vet with exotic animal experience would cost an arm and leg and, although I didn't actually plan for it, I was prepared to have to shell out the money and the boys will work off the expense with extra chores.

And, yes Rob, I know I should be dragged off and shot for allowing a snake in my home, but she's really quite sweet. Go check out her pics on my blog :-P~

If I hadn't gotten Ruby she would have been beaten to death. I don't know many people with pets that can afford a $1000 vet bill, but I'm not expecting anyone to pay it for me. I pay the $40 it takes to have her check ups and we've paid hundreds on her mange dips. I've been told that there are alternative vets who do minor operations on animals for cheap. If it comes down to it, I'll take her there. Dad has helped me out in the past and has sent me money when I was down. I don't expect that every time. If I had known that Ruby was going to have the health problems that she has had, I wouldn't have shelled out the $300 to puchase her. I didn't realize at the time that the people who I bought her from, were running a puppy mill and abusing their animals. I'm happy to have rescued her and though I may not be able to afford to give her the most expensive treatments, she is WELL taken care of and healthy. We need to be telling people out there, if you can't afford CHILDREN, don't have them.

Right you are Sam!

Well my leather's worn,
my cuffs are in tatters.
My head's on straight,
and that's all that matters.

Ah, you say that Acidman, and I see your point. But I have a feeling if she asked for help, and you believed in the cause, you'd be all over it... ; )

Vote for Kerry?

That's a low blow, Rob.

P.S. How much did you spend on fireworks?

Posted by: Jim Long on January 1, 2005 10:49 AM

It doesn't matter how much Rob spent on fireworks. It was HIS money.

Not yours. Not mine. HIS.

That means he should be able to spend it any way he sees fit without having to take shit from a bunch of overbearing nannys.

If he wants to spend it on fireworks - it's his business.

If he wants to spend it on Sam's dog - it's his business.

If he wants to use it to light the fireplace - it's his business!

Got it?

Jim, if you feel such burning compassion for a dog, why don't YOU send Sam some of YOUR money?

Oh... that's right. It's other people's money you like to spend.
