Just checkin' to see if ya got me banned or not!

I make an effort to close all comments on posts over 6 months old. I'm telling you, it works.

You're da man!!! Don't let the bass-turds win!!!

i don't get why this would happen--how would you attract spammers to your comments? is it the type of comments you have, or..?

Had to check me as well. I spend hours banning people from mine too. First, I ban amd report to b2evolution, then I ban the ip from accessing my site.

And for the poster that didn't get it, here is the main reason why they spam. We bloggers are listed on most search engines ie google. Then, if we don't remove they get their url indexed when our sites are spidered. Free publicity.

Listen, do you want that Scode thing I put on my blog? I have not had ONE spam comment since I installed it. It is a bear (for people like me) to put in, but I'll do it for you if you promise me cold beverages at the next blogmeet. :)

Velociman and Val Prieto are already in line to get the plugin from me, but mail me if you want to get on the install list and I'll get you started on the requirements.

Yep I'm going to spend tonight shutting all the comments down on my blog. I only get 20 a day but I don't have the time to despam my blog all the time.

My husband and I have worked out a easy way to get rid of spam and shut down comments that are really old. If you want to know how to do this please email me but I've sucessfully removed all spam from my site and now I am allowing comments again.

Got a license for what you aim to do, Acidman?

Of course, for what I just did, you might just use it on me!

I told ya before I have links to yer old stuff. They're right in my book marks. It's not the "listed" archives, like you had before, but it IS links, that make it possible to see, read and keep the whole load...

Since you're leaving for a while (but, so is my personal comouter wizard, Paul) I'll see what can be done, if anything, to make them as easy to preuse as they used to be. (Well, they aren't HARD to get to now, but, maybe I can just re-generate the whole "list" somehow, I dunno. I'll look into it.

Hey guys, spammers are people too! We should reach out and try to understand the problems and backgrounds these poor people have endured. Let's try and get in touch with their pain, empathise with their hurt. They need hugging, not banning. Let's welcome and celebrate their diversity, lets empower them to take ownership of their lives!

Or we could just kick 'em in the nuts.
