delicate sensibilities

Pardon me while I try to work up a good case of give a shit about Sunni "outrage" over the Marine killing a wounded terrorist in a mosque. We'll investigate the incident and handle it properly. We are civilized.

We DON'T behead innocent civilians, send homicide bombers into crowds, or celebrate in the streets with uulating and dancing when others do. I'm sorry, but people who supported a brutal regime that fed citizens into shredders and planted mass graves all over the country don't occupy the high moral ground when it comes to protesting senseless slaughter. They are too drenched in blood themselves.

``The troops not only violated our mosques with their sins and their boots but they stepped on our brothers' blood,'' said Khalil, the shop owner. ``They are criminals and mercenaries. I feel guilty standing here and not doing anything.''

Fine, Kahlil. Pick a gun and go fight the Marines, you stupid bastard. They'll assuage your guilt for you. And the "insurgents" need to understand that they reap what they sow. There are no innocent bystanders in a Guerrila War and when you dispense brutality, expect to get some back, a lot worse than panties on the head, too.

Fuck 'em. Those murderers made their own bed. I don't want to hear them whining about lying in it now.

Amen, bro. I really can't stand the indignation that it happened in a mosque. It's not like we're the ones that started hiding and fighting from mosques. The terrorists only have the cowardice of their convictions.

I find it strange that Iraqis and Arabs in general yelp about the US violating mosques when they committ murders, store weapons and conduct combat operations from these places in the first place. You gotta wonder if these people have a shred of what can be considered self-respect.

Forget self-respect, I gotta wonder if they have a shred of intelligence.

My cousin just returned from Iraq and we had a long conversation about his experiences over several beers. The person whom broke this news story is a whore for personal recognition and nothing else. I'd like to put him in the shoes of a front line Marine for a day. I mean REALLY in the shoes of a Marine without the umbrella of protection he receives while out there "reporting" the news. I wonder what spin of humanity he'd put on his actions when it's his own split second judgment of possible personal harm or death facing him square in the face? Hesitation will get you a ride home in a body bag during the heat of a battle.

That chracterization is profoundly insulting to whores, in my opinion. Calling this Sites jerk "scum" would be insulting scum.

Feh. I don't think the photographer is scum.

Overall, I think it's better of him to release the tape than it would be to let the media take him to task for "covering up war crimes" or some shit.

The way this happened it'll blow over quickly. The media'll make a lot of hay, but the American people will side with the soldier.

McGehee-You're very right and I stand corrected.

The media'll make a lot of hay, but the American people will side with the soldier.Well, 51% of us will, anyway.

Kevin Sites best hope he doesn't need his ass covered anytime soon.

Posted by: tybee mike on November 17, 2004 11:21 AM

Wish the marine had shot the press guy too.

Posted by: James Old Guy on November 17, 2004 11:35 AM

I hope the Marine is cleared quickly and without too much of the usual media hoopla. This is part of war, as ugly as it is. I agree with Susie -- many life and death decisions come down to a split-second thought. You have no time to ruminate.

Another thought -- why doesn't the media call the terrorist beheading of captives "murder"?

Posted by: EricT on November 17, 2004 12:17 PM

If Sites thought that a "crime" had been committed, he certainly could have turned the tape over to the military instead of the press. It is simply another example of the self-serving left wing media. Read the man's anti-war blog.

Technically, since the enemy abuses ROE, such as attacking under a white flag, using places of worship, feigning death in order to attack, etc, the ROE no longer apply to those situations. Case closed.

I wonder if it ever crossed the minds of the folks at NBC that release of this video would hand the bastards a great propoganda piece?

Worse yet, do they care? At the least, they could have held it until if and when any USMC investigation was complete (the kid will suffer no retribution, nor should he - but the damage is done anyway).

They're running this tape on a loop on al-jismera for sure. Congratulations on your "scoop", NBC. Assholes.

They rape, murder, behead and torture. Then stand up and trumpet their macho.."Come and get us. You will die. We will fight to the death.".....so be it.

You fuck with the bull ya get the horn.

I consider it tax dollars well spent.

Semper Fi, Marine.!

Amen, Acidman!

This kind of story is why none of the guys in my unit here in Iraq like to let the press tag along. They may act like your buddy, but they always end up fucking you in the end. That marine had a job to do - to close with and destroy the enemy - and he did it. End of story.

The term ....pop your eyeballs out and skull fuck you.... comes to mind when I hear of Marines being ambushed from behind a flag of truce. When the gomers do that then they soon become good gomers (a good gomer is a dead gomer). I feel that the Marines showed restraint by not shooting the reporter with a captured AK-47. Might be a good time to have this reporter out on point and armed only with his camera.
