Did you ever watch "Dobie Gillis?" Remember Maynard G. Krebbs?
Who played Maynard and what did his middle initial stand for?
Since I can't answer the second half of the question, I'll pass on the first part.

The actor was Bob Denver of Gilligan's Island fame. Not sure about the "G" though..
I think he (Maynard) said the "G" was for Walter, but I might have that wrong. Krebbs was a take on "crabs", I know that much!

Yeah Bob Denver, I don't recall what the G. for either. Great supporting cast. I have no idea what happened to Dobie or the actor who played him but all the others were pretty good including his Mom and Dad.
Wasn't his girlfriend played by Tuesday Weld?

Dwane Hickman played Dobie Gillis. Bob Denver was Maynard. And the "G" stood for Walter.
Maynard was weird.

They never used it on the show, but Sherwood Schwartz had it ready just in case they ever needed to use it.
