Gut Rumbles

yeah, I was there

This sight wasn't as impressive as I imagined that it might be. It's still IMPRESSIVE and one hell of an engineering feat, but it wasn't as good as some stuff I saw Mother Nature do all by herself.

(and the "gift shop" sign pointing to that female ass was no accident. I like to take intriguing photos with subliminal messages in them.)

When I was out there, I stopped and saw Mt. Rushmore, but what impressed me even more during that trip was Devil's Tower at sunset. Then I broke into the dooo dooo do do dooooo of Close Encounters.

Ya'll must be referring to the sculptures in the distance rather than the sculpture to the left of the "Gift Shop" sign.

When I was a kid my Mom drove us three kids and my Grandmother up to "the hills", about a five hour drive in a 1950 Ford. I was impressed as hell.

When I returned as an middle-aged adult, I thought the Fed's had really fucked up the place as a "nat'l monument". Gift shop, plaza with flags, etc., etc. It didn't need any of that shit.

Just the chance to walk to the base and look up. The sculptor was a stud.

We went to Devils Mountain it was pretty cool but Rick and I didn't make it to the presidents we went to Canada instead but that is anothe story. But Rick and Rob made it and got my passport book stamped so I get to enjoy the pictures.

We were there a few weeks ago. Saw them all lit up at night and then again about 5:30 in the morning with the sun rising on them. Beautiful.

I'm not sure you want to know what's in the real Mt. Rushmore gift shop...
