bullshit 911

I watched Bowling For Columbine yesterday and then I read this review of Moore's latest propaganda piece today. Michael Moore has his formula down pat. Here's what I had to say about BFC:

Michael Moore does three things really well with that move (besides pissing me off). First, he mixes just enough fact with his fiction to give it the ring of truth if you're not listening carefully. Second, he manages to hit every leftist, break-my-heart talking point he can cram into the film, even when the points don't have a damn thing to do with his subject. Last, his syrupy, unctious voice-over makes him sound like a truly caring, unbiased individual, when he obviously IS NOT.

Here's what Christopher Hitchens has to say about Moore:

A film that bases itself on a big lie and a big misrepresentation can only sustain itself by a dizzying succession of smaller falsehoods, beefed up by wilder and (if possible) yet more-contradictory claims. President Bush is accused of taking too many lazy vacations. (What is that about, by the way? Isn't he supposed to be an unceasing planner for future aggressive wars?) But the shot of him "relaxing at Camp David" shows him side by side with Tony Blair. I say "shows," even though this photograph is on-screen so briefly that if you sneeze or blink, you won't recognize the other figure. (emphasis mine) A meeting with the prime minister of the United Kingdom, or at least with this prime minister, is not a goof-off.

No, it's not a goof-off, but Michael Moore wants it to APPEAR to be one, so he cheats. He cheats a lot in his films. But when you're preaching to the choir, truth doesn't matter. "Give 'em what they want to see" works, and Moore knows how to do that.

The guy is pure slime. Or maybe just "one of the great sagging blimps of our sorry, mediocre, celeb-rotten culture.

You know what proves to me that so many on the left are without honor, and why I was right to walk away from that side of the political spectrum?

Their almost universal failure to criticize or divorce themselves from this lying shitbag, even when confronted with undeniable evidence.

A genuinely honorable liberal acknowledges it when one of his own misbehaves.

There are a few of those. Too few, I'm sorry to say.

Meanwhile, the loonie-right continues to obsessively suck Limbaugh's, Coulter's and Hannity's dicks.

Thank you, Disturbed, for living up to your name, and making our side of the argument look so much better and saner by comparison.

You and others like you and Michael Moore will ultimately make our argument for us.

The more shrill and insane you sound - the louder you yell and scream - the more you insult us and throw feces like the monkeys that you are - in other words, the more you show your true colors and how much you hate and despise America - the more our side wins by default.

That goes for Michael Moore as well.

Ultimately, Mikey's hypocrisy is going to trip him up. He's raised his profile too high. Lots of people are starting take longer, more critical looks at his films and the way he makes them. The extreme left may nod their heads and applaud, because he's preaching to them. And they love the message. He's saying what they want to hear.

It may not happen this year, or next. But it will happen. Mikey is gonna fall on his ass. (6.9 on the richter scale!!!) Who knows? Maybe Mikey and Stern will have an effect on the election and Kerry gets elected. So what? He's got two basic choices - continue with the plan that Bush has laid out, or not. If he does continue, are you still gonna vote for him? Or is it a case of "Anybody but Bush"?

If he _doesn't_, and grovels to Europe and the UN, abandons Iraq, and by doing so, lets the whole ME go to hell, then I can almost guarantee we'll be looking at another 9-11 in a few years, if not in his term, than very soon thereafter. And what kind of movies will Mikey be making THEN, eh?

But back to Michael Moore. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. He's got all the film making skill of Leni Reifenstahl, and all the moral clarity.

He may, in fact be _worse_. An argument could be made (as Reifanstahl herself did) that she wasn't aware of the implications of her work at the time and that she was a pure film maker. It's plausible. LOT'S of people in Germany didn't understand what Hitler and the Reich were until too late.

But Moore is fully cognizant of what he's doing. Mikey's agenda is out in the open for all to see, in fact. His maliciousness is part of why the left loves him so.

He's a propagandist and it's obvious to anyone with two brain cells to rub together. He deals in lies and slander. And the more films he makes, the more the cameras point in his direction, the more obvious it becomes.

Just as you become obvious for the pathetic, bottom feeding troll that you are, the more you post, Disturbed.

Thanks for becoming as obvious a retread as Mikey's underwear.

All I said was: "Meanwhile, the loonie-right continues to obsessively suck Limbaugh's, Coulter's and Hannity's dicks."

I'm "shrill and insane"? Have you heard Bush and Cheney these last couple of days?

That's _it_? That's all you've _got_? No, no, no... you're going about this all wrong!

See, this is the way it works - You have to tell me I'm an idiot, and someone else has to say something intelligent and look for a compromise, then someone else has to attack them, and so on, until someone Godwins the thread by calling the other guys Nazis. Then you add up the total number of words and divide by the number of useful points to see who won. So far, you've let fly with one broad un-imaginative vulgar insult and a single strawman and I'm ahead by... oh... infinity, looks like. I even _spotted_ you a Nazi comment just to make it easy for you and you _still_ come up short! Are you really going to just let that stand, you slacker?

Come on, the floor has been opened for bitter conspiracy theories, cruel ad hominem attacks, and ridiculous assertions of moral supremacy! I've seen better debates on Democratic Underground, fer cryin' out loud! And they're usually preaching to the choir anyway!

(Sigh) So dissapointing... Oh well.

Come'on folks, how long does it take to catch on ?
Ann Coulter's a fox, although a little skinny for my taste.
I think you could suck her all over without finding a dick.

"I think you could suck her all over without finding a dick."

Naw. I'm pretty sure Limbaugh is the one without a dick.
