May 06, 2004vidalia onionsIn the past two days, I've dispatched three CARE packages to deprived people who can't find genuine Vidalia onions in the local grocery store. I sent the big, fat rascals, too. Here's a hint on how to store them. DO NOT keep them in the refrigerator. They'll go to shit in a hurry that way. Take a pair of panty hose and cut the legs off them. Drop an onion down one of the legs and tie a knot in the hose just above the onion. Then, drop another onion down the leg and tie a knot above that one. Repeat as needed until you have the onions all trapped in a panty hose leg where they don't touch one another. After that, just hang the hose on a hook somewhere at room temperature. The onions will keep for better than a month that way. Just a handy tip from the Vidalia Onion man. Comments
