Gut Rumbles

March 22, 2004

Just read this story and think about it for a minute. Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, the head of Hamas, was killed in an Israeli air-strike. What does Hamas say about it? DEATH TO ALL ISRAELIS NOW!!!!

What the fuck? This DEATH thing is new? What ELSE has Hamas been up to for the past 40 or so years? Got-dam. That's all Hamas is for. NOW they threaten extra vengence and death, when they already have enough blood dripping from their hands to fill an olympic swimming pool? I am not impressed.

I know that I'll get a lot of flack over what I'm about to say, but I'm going to say it anyway. Yassir Arafat and his Hamas cronies among the Palistineans remind me a lot of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. They claim to be "leaders" but they don't give a shit about the people they claim to lead. THEY prosper while their people perish.

That's not leadership. That's self-aggrandizment.

Israel has shown that people can live well, and in freedom, on that God-forsaken piece of the earth. Palistineans have the same opportunity if they only could put aside their sheer, burning hatred of the Jews and learn to live with them. The opportunity is right there in front of their dirty, scowling faces and they won't take it.

A lot of black people in the United States behave the same way. I'm sorry (no-- now that I think of it, I'm not) if I hurt delicate sensibilities here, but blacks in America have more opportunity right in front of their scowling faces than their fathers and grandfathers did. All they have to do is reach out and grab it.

Some do. Many don't, and that's a crying shame.

People who have opportunities need to stop listening to Hamas and Jesse Jackson. They need to see all of that low-hanging fruit that's out there for them to pick if only they get the chips off their shoulders and go for it. It's THERE!

In the rich fantasy life I lead, I wish that I were a black woman in college now. If I worked hard, achieved a decent degree and then declared myself to be a lesbian, the world would be my oyster. The opportunities are there. Nobody needs a self-aggrandizing "leader" to show you the way.

Just go pick the fruit. All by yourself.
