don't take it wrong

The email I posted below about a teenager's suicide is from an anguished parent, not a troll.

My heart goes out to her and yours should, too.

(Update: I wrote a chapter in my book yesterday where a five year-old boy gets hit by a car and ends up like a bag of broken bones in the street. His mama finds his glasses in perfect condition on the side of the road and says, "Look. His glasses are okay." It was the mention of the glasses in that email that really hit me hard.)

Mine did. Still does.

I once had a story idea partially worked out in which a guy appears to hit a kid that way rushing to work, and doesn't even stop. He then imagines the worst and goes on a guilt trip that destroys his life. Meanwhile, the kid is actually okay and he doesn't know it. Or maybe it was that the kid wasn't okay, but the family freely forgave whoever did it. I forget.
