government in action

When it comes to wasting money, the federal government knows how. Kinda warms the cockles of your heart, doesn't it?

The government doled out as much as $1.4 billion in bogus assistance to victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, getting hoodwinked to pay for season football tickets, a tropical vacation and even a divorce lawyer, congressional investigators have found.

Not thousands of wasted dollars. Not even millions of wasted dollars. 1.4 billion wasted dollars. That's a lot of money to piss away. It takes GOVERNMENT to be that stupidly wasteful.

To demonstrate how easy it was to hoodwink FEMA, the GAO told of an individual who used 13 different Social Security numbers - including the person's own - to receive $139,000 in payments on 13 separate registrations for aid. All the payments were sent to a single address.

What's the big deal? It was "free" money and it's government's JOB to give it away just as fast as it can, even to those who don't deserve it. That's "compassion."

That's BULLSHIT, too.

Excuse me for being redundant, mentioning government and bullshit in the same post. But so what? It's only money...

Hey! And how about the sex change operation that FEMA paid for. GOTDAM! Ain't that charmin'?

Some quotes come to mind:

"Suppose you were an idiot and suppose you were a member of Congress. But I repeat myself."
- Mark Twain

“Washington is a stud farm for every jackass in the country.”
- Mark Twain

This country has come to feel the same when Congress is in session as when the baby gets hold of a hammer.
-Will Rogers

In my many years I have come to a conclusion that one useless man is a shame, two is a law firm, and three or more is a congress.
- John Adams

Alexander Hamilton started the U.S. Treasury with nothing -- and that was the closest our country has ever been to being even.
-Will Rogers

Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first.
-Mark Twain

Parasites would escape their moral poverty much sooner if we would stop our disservice of rescuing them from their poor decision making. The only way government can attempt to legislate any semblance of morality is to allow those who refuse to produce to suffer the consequences of letting nature 'do its work'.

BOBG: Here's another quote that comes to my mind...

" a debate before the National Association of Black Journalists, I stated that if whites were to just leave the United States and let blacks run the country, they would turn America into a ghetto within 10 years. The audience, shall we say, disagreed with me strongly. Now I have to disagree with me. I gave blacks too much credit. It took a mere three days for blacks to turn the Superdome and the convention center into ghettos...."
Rev. J.L Peterson (black minister)

A billion here and a billion there, and soon you're talking about real money.
– Everett Dirksen

The most terrifying words in the English language are: I’m from the government and I’m here to help.
– Ronald Reagan

Giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys.
– P.J. O'Rourke, Civil Libertarian

Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.
– Ronald Reagan (1986)

A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have.
– Thomas Jefferson

And to sum up:
There is no distinctly native American criminal Congress.
– Mark Twain

What it all boils down to is that government on all levels is too easily stampeded by the reporters.

Let's all back up and remember what the history of this is. First the storm hits and before the wind has even died down or the flooding has stopped, the GD reporters are carping and screaming "WHERE"S FEMA!", "WE"RE ALL GONNA DIE!", "IT"S BUSH"S FAULT!"

So what do the geniuses at FEMA do? Why they start throwing the largess around. Screw the rules! Just write the check!

And they did it for one reason and one reason alone - to attempt to silence the carping of the damn media assholes.

It didn't work, and now here we are.

Let's not forget the 8 BILLION in tax money that's been "lost" by contractors in Iraq. The government doesn't know where the money went and uh, wow, neither do the crooks who stole it.

Mind you I'm for the war effort, and 8 BILLION dollars sounds like it would've bought a lot of body armor and ammunition.

And yet, the same mucking forons in government have sent attack dog credit agencies after my chapped ass over 23 grand in student loans.

F--k this corrupt POS government.
