quote of the day

Just go read the whole thing.

In MY humble opinion, unions in American manufacturing today are destroying their own rank-and-file by clinging to a 1920s mentality in a 2006 environment. The union "leadership" would rather sink bellowing like a dinosaur in a tar pit and DIE rather than face a changing world.

That kind of thinking isn't good for ANYBODY.

La. is a "Right To Work State" and if I was running the company I would fire every sumbitch that went on strike and hire some people that wanted to work.

Unions were absolutely necessary at one time and perhaps still in certain areas. The problem is that they now want to protect their own jobs so they have to continually come up with new grievances, actually causing bad morale in the work place rather than helping to fix it. Once the worker's lives are in a safe and reasonably rewarded place, it's time for the unions to take merely a watchdog position rather than attacking. Unskilled people making more than folks with master's degrees is ridiculous. Plus the extra costs drive up inflation and make life worse for those not "lucky" enough to be in a union shop.
