immigration plan

Are you familiar with the concept of "Occam's Razor?" It's really just the KISS Theory (Keep It Simple, Stupid) stated in different terms, and I believe that there is a lot of truth to it. Even very complex problems sometimes have very simple solutions.

Take this idea about immigration, for example:

Mexico has to give us a barrel of oil a week for every illegal Mexican in this country or we round 'em all up and ship 'em all back.

Hell, the illegal immigrants are here already, we don't have the balls to throw them out and government obviously has no intention of securing our borders against this kind of invasion. Let's at least get something out of the deal.

Wetbacks for Oil is a better idea than Wetbacks for NOTHING.

Comments

True. The oil for illegals idea is an idea mentioned by Michael Savage from time to time, actually. Still, it's a good idea.

"For every complex problem, there is a solution that is simple, neat, and wrong".

Even Mencken wasn't always wrong, either.

Empty threats are worse than no threats at all, I think.

The Mexican government, even if it wanted to, couldn't stop illegals coming over the border.

(Neither can the US government, without the political will to do so and the large budget necessary, neither of which exist or are likely to start existing anytime soon. Nor can the US actually deport, what, 10 million illegals? Simply can't do it.)

Plus the absolute kicker - Mexico can't do that, because they don't have enough oil to do that without economic collapse. (a href="http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos/mx.html">Oil exports from Mexico as of 2004 were 13MBbl/week, of which 11.2MBbl already go to the US.)

Assuming 10 million illegals from Mexico, that would simply destroy the Mexican economy, which makes a pile of money from oil... and thus send more illegals to the US.

So the Mexicans would never agree to that (and indeed, it couldn't be enforced anyway, without war), it can't be done, and it would be incredibly counterproductive if tried.

No surprise Michael Savage thought it was a good idea.

Sigivald sure is good at figuring out why things meant to be sarcastic wouldn't work.

I am pretty sure that Michael Savage does not think this is a good idea, he thinks its a controversial idea that will drive the liberal softies nuts. It worked, wouldn't you agree Sigivald? The point is that we have to do something to get the Mexican Govenment to realize that we want them to stop assisting the illegals across the border with maps well wishes. Governments dont listen untill they are smacked militarily or financially. Outside of a strong National Guard presence Military is basicly out, but we have alot of room financially. Mexicos top 2 forms of income are Oil (which as pointed out mostly goes to us) and cash sent back home from Illegals here.
