Gut Rumbles

it's the chance you take

This lovely lady is hooked on the horns of a dilemma. Evidently, she followed the Golden Rule of Blogging ("Don't write anything you wouldn't want your mama to read."), but she didn't think about an ex-boyfriend getting a computer. She deleted her old blog, started a new one and now worries that the old stuff may be cached in Google where he can find it.

If I were her, I wouldn't fret about it. Unless he's got some nekkid pictures. THEN I might worry, but only if I were her.

Blogging can be so complicated sometimes...

you're so good to me. thankfully he's not an ex-boyfriend...just a retarded friend who needs a swift kick sometimes. but who doesn't?

Two things...
1.) The Wayback Macgine... it's an archive of the Internet. Paul told me about it and, from what I understand, it has pretty much all of the Internet cached. You can get Google to delete your cached old stuff, but it's a pain right in the tookas. Plus, there are all the other search engines to contend with. Google is really good, yes, but it's not the only one out there.

2.) (And, more important...) Keep in mind the truism of: Those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter.
In other words, your true friends will accept what you say as your personal truth and not get all snotty and stupid about it and the people who'd get all snotty and stupid about it need to piss off anyway.

Joke 'im if he can't take a fuck, right?

Really though... relax Erica. You have every right to your opinions and to express them.
Hell, he may even learn something about himself, once he gets over the "board upside the head" of dealing with the truth.
Some people can handle it, some need to be forced to learn how to, ya know?

You'll be fine.
So will he.

HR departments routinely Google new job applicants. I've lost out on jobs because of some "spirited" comments I made a few years ago on the net using my real name.
