soap opera

I did something today that I haven't done for a while--- I deleted a bunch of comments on my blog. Yes, dear friends, the assholes are out in full force this new year.

If the commenters would content themselves with trying to insult ME, I would have no problem with them. They can call me racist, homosexual, red-necked, ignorant, ugly, impotent or anything else they want to. They obviously mistake ME for someone who gives a shit what they think.

If calling me an alcoholic is supposed to hurt, well... I'm sorry. It doesn't. I AM an alcoholic. I just don't drink alcohol anymore. (Today makes 80 days with no alcohol. I don't intend to drink tomorrow, either. But I'll ALWAYS be an alcoholic, even if I manage to stay sober the rest of my life.)

So, go as low as you want to go in insulting me. I've been called a lot worse than anything a shithead troll can think up and it didn't kill me. I believe that I can survive whatever these pinheads fart in my direction this time, too.

But leave my daughter and my friends out of it. I won't allow those comments to last long here.

Attaboy, Rob! No prisoners! Bout time...

Glad to see you drop-kicked the fuckers. i didn't think it was my place, but I SURE wanted to!

I'll pop into the server and make it a little harder for them to come back.

While i'm there, want me to fix up the photo positioning/duplication in the sidebar?

It is far more likely for an alcoholic to stop drinking than for a jerk to stop being a jerk...
hang in there...

Can't blame you. Some left a "lame" comment on one of my posts about my boys getting good grades. It was a friend of mine, or so I thought. I deleted the post because it felt like an attack on my boys. That kind of shit just isn't cool.

Good for you. And 80 days is awesome. Keep it up.

Posted by: Shawna on January 8, 2006 10:28 PM

80 Days and counting.
Keep up the great work!

Posted by: caltechgirl on January 9, 2006 02:38 AM

An asshole you may very well be, but by God, You're OUR asshole!

btw, the new pic is pretty cool. The butt hanging from your puss does a Hemmingway kind of thing. ....Jesus, Mary, Martin and Lewis, I'm getting a woody!

It's like that old story about Winston Churchill.

A lady comes up to him at a state affair and says, with a withering, scornful tone, "Winston, you are drunk!"

He replies: "Madam, I am drunk. And you are ugly. But tomorrow, I shall no longer be drunk, and you will still be ugly."

Love the hat in the new pic! Makes ya look cool! *G* Know what ya mean about comments; say anything ya want about me, I really don't care, just leave my youngins out of it. Ignorance is contagious and runs rampant through the net; ignore when ya can, delete when ya can't !

I love the neatly trimmed goatee....and of course, whats not to like about that Indiana Jones hat! I like the new pic, but dont dump the old one......(I like that one too)

This has nothing to do with the subject of the post, but I thought it would be of personal interest to the Acidman...,2106,3533448a4560,00.html

I don't blame you one little bit; that type of stuff is pathetic!!!

Your blog; your rules.

Just found you recently from another bloglink...Michelle Malkin, no less ( it was the cat diary), "I wish I knew how to quit you!"

Posted by: Celt on January 9, 2006 12:35 PM

Got here by Livey... After reading hers, I figured out what they must have been saying on yours. Bummer. That's just not cool. Thanks for being such a good friend to her - she needs all of them she can get.

80 days? Wow. Just Wow. Keep up the good work.

Posted by: sue on January 9, 2006 12:57 PM

... rock on, Rob....

Posted by: Eric on January 9, 2006 01:10 PM

hear, hear.

I love it when Juliette edits her comments threads. Some great laughs there. You've done a fine job of editing from time to time too.

It's so much more entertaining than deleting a post.

Screw 'em, Rob.

Hey, I love the lid.

Seems you have many fans, on this site!

This is in response to your recurring insomnia; Question-- How much coffee are you drinking?

I noticed that I can't sleep if I have more than 4 cups a day. Also, that great iced tea that most restaurants offer seems chock a block with caffein.

Not so noticeable if a person uses alcohol.

Keep up the struggle!

Hi Rob.

I'm glad for 80 days!!

I think you look quite handsome in the hat, and I bet you'll start to look even more handsome when you get a little more meat on your bones.

For the record, my dad is an alcholic as well. He didn't stop drinking until the cancer made him stop.

I'm glad you're defending your family. Anyone low enough to attack a man through his family is low enough to milk a snake's......

Posted by: Nancy on January 9, 2006 02:44 PM

I believe you meant to say even WHEN (not if) I manage to stay sober the rest of my life. 80 days is quite a milestone though - very cool.

Before you know it, we will be remarking on your sobriety in years.

It's kind of like raising a kid isn't it? You mark the time in weeks and then months. You don't count their age in years until they're about three.

Posted by: Libby on January 9, 2006 03:09 PM

80 days....pretty impressive.

Posted by: mike on January 9, 2006 03:41 PM

Way to go, my friend! I haven't had a drink all day today, either. Yay us!

Posted by: Larry on January 9, 2006 04:32 PM

In the old photo you resemble Ted Turner watching Hanoi Jane Fonda taking a shower with an 18 year old hottie. Come to think of it, that ain't all bad.

Just my 2

Haven't been here in a while, but dropped by today to see how you're doing.. 80 days is good son.

I am now at 185 months and 10 days. If 'n I can do it, should be no problem for you.
