the proof is obvious

Some people have a real problem with associating cause and effect. Using some of the idiotic "scientific" logic flying like shit in the wind today, I can make a perfectly logical case that the shrimp population in the salt water creeks of Georgia affect the birth rate of black children in Savannah. And I can prove that storks bring babies, too.

Of course, it's all bullshit, but numbers don't lie. Right?

Here's someone else pissed off at MADD. I really like THIS piece of "proof" about how effective that organization has been.

He rightly congratulates them on a job well done, noting drunk driving deaths are down more than 35% since the 80s. He goes on to tell us by the mid-90s the deaths began to level off, thus validating MADD's success in changing public priorities and perceptions.

Yep. MADD deserves all the credit for that. Better designed cars with more safety features didn't have a damned thing to do with the statistics. Mandatory seat belt laws and air bags didn't have a damn thing to do with it. Anti-lock brakes didn't have a damn thing to do with it. Front seat headrests didn't have a damn thing to do with it.

It was ALL acomplished by MADD.

If you get a DUI in the state of Georgia now, you are REQUIRED to pay $10 and attend a MADD class, where people tell horror stories about drunks with a BAC of .350 going the wrong way down the interstate at night, at 120 MPH and no headlights on, then wiping out a good, loving family. That's sheer tragedy, caused by sheer stupidity on a selfish person's fault.

But that's not the driver MADD attacks today. I had to attend one of those classes in 2001. I didn't hear ONE SINGLE STORY about someone with a .08 BAC doing something like that. In fact, I compared notes with some people sitting around me in the meeting, and I had the highest BAC (.14--- almost "twice the legal limit," don'cha know.)of anybody I talked to. Most of the people in there were caught by revenue enhancers "random roadblocks," where they blew a .09 or a .10 on a breathalyzer.

I wasn't fucked up on alcohol. What got me in trouble were the sleeping pills I took along with the alcohol because I couldn't sleep after my wife ran off with another man. I deserved to go to jail that night, because I was a goddam fool. But I wasn't thinking very straight, either. When I got out of jail, I attempted suicide.

Organizations such as MADD frighten me. Once the zealots take over, which they have done already, it's not an anti-drunk-driving movement anymore. It's a bunch of self-appointed Nazis who want to run everybody else's life according to THEIR rules.

I don't like that shit.

Have you ever noticed that when you get a bunch of "Mothers" together for a purpose, the end result is socialist totalitarianism? MADD, the Million Mom March, Cindy Sheehan and her Moms against Bush.

Plenty of evidence that a female-centric society is bad for individual rights, and a loss of individual rights is bad for the US of A.

Last week, a female Judge, Mercedes Diez, of the Oregon Circuit Court, died. All sorts of leftys tripped all over themselves eulogizing her in print and on the airwaves.

She handled my divorce. She gave my ex-wife 44% of my take-home pay, PLUS I had to continue paying my house payments while she lived in the house. Together, that left me with less than a third of my wages to live on, making me dependent on the generosity of a friend who let me live in one room of his house.

This judge was responsible for the "nurturing mothers" concept being elevated from out of nowhere to the absolute standard for child custody cases in Oregon.

At some point, males are going to have to reassert their leadership in society. Note that I said LEADERSHIP, not dominance. Until we do, we have no chance to bring this nation back to the Founders' standards, and back from the brink of social disaster.

Thanks for the link Rob. I appreciate the encouragement, even though your post makes it kind of sound like I support these MADD zealots, which I ceratinly don't.

And don't blame it on women rivrdog. Men still outnumber us in the seats of power. We didn't make these laws and I've seen a lot of male judges make bad decisions in custody cases.

I'm a woman and after all the times I saw good men get screwed by the system and their kids given over to lying irresponsible, neglecful bitch mothers just because they were women, I became a really big supporter of father's rights. I helped several guys with no money fight for their rights without a lawyer and only lost one case and that was only because the guy didn't take my advice.

Isn't it time for us to stop judging each other on gender, or party, or any damn label and start judging each other by our actions?

Amen, Libby!

As I leave the house to go "facilitate" (read babysit) my nightly group at the local DUI school, just thought I'd mention that here in CA the 'suggested donation' at a MADD meeting (the reciept for which is the client's ONLY proof of attending this court ordered session) is $20.00 and has been for years. You guys in GA are getting a real bargain! DUI's have pretty much become nothing more than a money-mill for the state/county/city governments. I'd say that MAYbe 10 to 15 % of my clients have a really serious, diagnosable alcohol problem. The rest ... young, stupid, tired, stupid, don't look right, stupid, pulling out of a local hot spot ... ... I'm all for getting drunks off the road, especially if they're driving anywhere near my children, but MADD is just what you've said -- I don't like that shit either. I could say a lot more but the teach can't be late for group! :-)

And all this time I thought it meant 'Men Against Damned Dildoes'.

Here's someone else who has a bit of a gripe with MADD:

Yet another reason -- if you needed any more -- to avoid DC like the plague.

Glad to see other people that share my opinion of MADD. (Have gone too far)

Wouldn't be surprised if we have the
Second Soming of Prohibition around the corner if they keep lowering the "legal BA level". Being a short woman, damn, I'm afraid to even drink a glass of wine with my dinner at a restaurant if I have to drive home afterward.

What started out as a good thing, has now gone too far, imo.

Have always enjoyed your writing, Acidman, btw. Take care.
