oddball update

I have a smart dog. She slept on the couch last night, then went to the back door this morning and looked at me as if the say, "I need to take a shit!" I let her out. She went outside to poop, peed a couple of times and sniffed around the yard. Then, when she was finished, she ran back inside and hopped up on the couch. I petted her and praised her good behavior.

The dog already is housebroken and I don't know why anyone would have dropped this one off at the pound. She's intelligent, affectionate and well-behaved. Quinton did a good job picking her. I believe that I have a real jewel on my hands. I enjoy her company.

It's nice to have someone besides me around the Crackerbox.

There really is nothing like having the companionship of a loyal pet. I really miss that. The hubby's cat cannot compare.

You'll get so used to her that when she isn't home, you'll feel like your house is empty.

A friend of mine runs a rescue organization and some of the stories she tells about why people drop off pets is amazing. Some wierd ones were going on vacation and didn't want to spend the money to kennel the pet or moving to a brand new house and didn't want it to get 'dirty.' Some people are very 'interesting.'

At the risk of sounding condescending, I have to say I'm proud of you for adopting from the pound. I can't imagine why people give away good dogs, but they really do know that they were saved, and she'll never forget it.

I know this sounds strange, but all this talk about Good Dogs makes me miss my cat. She's an atrocious and arrogant little beast (nearly all cats are) but when she wants to be she showers love and affection on us in amounts that even Good Dogs would be hard put to match.

I have a shelter dog. She's the light of my life.

I have a shelter dog, but I got her through a friend who couldn't be bothered with her, because she loved her cats more. She just got Niki for protection. She was tied out in the yard most of the day, and only let in to sleep at night, because she liked to sleep on the couch, and barked at the cats. So when they moved in with me, I put an end to that! She's a great dog, very well trained, never a problem. Unlike my other two heathens, but that's another story.

Worse choice I ever made. Not long into my first marriage my wife demanded that I get rid of my dog. Sorry Spike, I miss you.

My guess is, they HAD to drop her off. A dog that well trained had to be loved for the amount of time someone spent with her.
