things that matter to me

* I always keep my fingernails and toenails trimmed and clean. I can't stand hoary nails on anybody, especially not me.

* I wash my hands a lot. I think that habit comes from working for 24 years in a chemical plant, where I kept my hands in all kinds of shit.

* I like to go barefoot. Hell, I like to go NEKKID, but the neighbors might complain if I went outside the way I walk around my house most of the time. But nobody demands that I wear shoes outside, so usually I don't.

* I enjoy being around children because they combine the best and the worst humanity has to offer. They are innocent, yet conniving. They are foolish but determined to fool YOU. They have boundless energy but sleep like concrete blocks when they fall out. They belive in magic and Santa Claus. They make me feel good.

* I love the sea. I've snorkled a lot, yet I've never learned to scuba-dive. I want to try that. Hell, if this bastard can do it, I can.

* I miss the body I once had. I was young and strong and I NEVER got tired. My hair was dark and my energy was inexhaustable. I feel like an old fart today.

* I like violent thunderstorms. I've weathered a few on top of a mountain where the rain fell in sheets and hailstones pelted my head. The thunder rocked the ground and the lightning lit up the sky. I managed to survive those storms and I still keep a lawn chair in my garage so I can sit there and watch the lightning to this day. I like seeing Mother Nature all pissed off.

* I once drank breast-milk from a lactating woman. I just wanted to try it. For the hell of it. The milk was warm and really didn't taste that good. But I enjoyed the experience.

* I'll try almost anything once, but I don't believe that I want to jump out of an airplane.

*OR ride a motorcycle.

* There are some things I simply refuse to do.

Hey Acidman,

I like to fly airplanes, but my sphincter contracts uncomfortably at the thought of having to jump out of one.

Since you are a chemist, (look, degrees aside, your practical experience makes you a chemist). I thought you might like my post at: Commanderwill.blogspot.com regarding this junk science crap about CO2 and global warming.

BTW, I had a friend in Tampa who worked in a plant that produced anhydrous ammonia. Talk about dangerous. This stuff is such a powerful dessicant that if you dip a dollar bill into it, it shrinks to about half size. He carries one around with him all the time to show the effect.

Motorcycles, properly ridden are an absolute delight !! MB is on her third one; it's a lovely Gold Wing.

I love thunderstorms, hurricanes and all that stuff like that.

I have flown helicopters, jumped out of airplanes, rode motorcycles. Sex with a woman whos knows what she wants and likes sex is a thousand times better.

Motorcycles are one of the easiest vehicles to 'become one with'. I've heard it may be easier with planes, but they're rather more expensive.

Until you've experienced it, you really can't imagine what it's like. My first time left me with a shit-eating grin for days.

You are, of course, free to go through the rest of your life not knowing what you're missing.

Hey Acidman,

Thinking about your mortality.

You know, you seem like a good man, but you've been dealt a lot of shit.

You can either blame God, or you can chalk it up to the assholes who dealt it to you.

I've spent years arguing with atheists on how moronically illogical they are about the existence of God. I'm a scientist. You can't explain the universe or the irreduseable complexity of the earth by merely calling chance into play. Chance is not a force. Chance is a description of events.

Chance does not explain extremely complex systems that require programming code on the order of 10 to the 10,000th power. (i.e. a single cell in a mammal)

Wake the hell up, dude.

You deal with extreme reality every day with regard to dangerous chemicals. You need to realize that the same about your eternal future.

You talked much about "playing the hand" you were dealt. Problem is; you don't know about the dealer.

Let's play.

Again, don't knock diving and riding until you've given them a shot. Free spirits tend to rather enjoy such things, a group to which you certainly belong.

And yes, great sex with a great woman is pretty high on the list, but it can be beat with the correct dose of adenaline. Fear is FAR more powerful an emotion than pleasure, but the odd mix of both one gets after being to the edge and living to tell the tale is amazing.

You had me on all points except for the breast milk. Something about that makes me a bit green. Although I have spoken to several men who get a thrill from watching the feeding process. Not too long ago, I had witnessed a young mother whip her large nipple out to feed her youngen, not too sure who needed the bib more, the baby or my husband who sat next to me.

Acidman,
I learned to scuba dive at the age you are now. My son and I got certified together. Maybe you and Quinton can do that together. It is an awesome sport. The beauty of the coral reefs can not be adequately captured on film. It has to be experienced. Below are some web pages of some of the beauty down there.
I have been reading your blog for about a month now and enjoy it very much. Thanks for sharing.

Okay, I'm officially in lust with MOMMABEAR..... and Rob has the photo of MY (late, lamented, ouch), Gold Wing to show why. *wicked grin*

Rob... next to Roscoe, a bike IS the most mechanical fun you can have between your legs, man.
