the truth

Here is a perfect example of the difference between environmentalists and outdoorsmen:

Decades ago, the environmentalists adopted a bird as their symbol -- the condor. The hunters got a bird too -- the wild turkey. When the environmentalists adopted the condor, there were a couple dozen left in existence. And today, there are still a couple dozen. When the hunters adopted the wild turkey, there were a couple thousand. Now there are more than 20 million wild turkeys in North America. Today, we kill more wild turkey each year in Michigan alone during the legal hunting season than there were in existence in the 20s and 30s. And that's with regulations to harvest just the surplus!

Like it or not, that's the way the world works.

Thanks to this guy for the wise words of Ted Nugent.

The same could be said about the Peregrine Falcon. There were only a handful of them in the 80s. The feds tried to help, to no avail. Only captive breeding and release programs started by falconers were successful. Now the population is back up to its pre-DDT levels and has been removed from the endangered list.

The Achilles Heel of the PETArds is asking them if they're Pro-choice. The answer is 99% of the time "yes". I then chop 'em up. Killin babies is ok but don't dare eat that lobster.

Free market economics is totally beyond the comprehension of the left. This is also true about drugs. Alcohol is plentiful and relatively cheap. Good alcohol requires a lot of care, quality control, and time (aging) but is still relatively cheap considering production costs. Profit is pretty good but still moderate.
Cocaine is extremely cheap and quick to make, and has a 10,000% profit margin from harvest to street. No wonder people are willing to kill and risk prison or death to deal it.
During prohibition, demand for alcohol didn't go down, the price just went up to compensate for the risks and the bribing of government. This made the profit margin skyrocket.

If you prohibited all harvesting of Salmon tomorrow, due to perceived low numbers, then all industries depending on marketing of Salmon would close shop or go into black market. But in a black market, there would be no nurseries to raise restock fry. There would only be clandestine harvesting and selling due to a dramatic increase in profit. Law abiding fishermen would move on to something else, and organized crime would take over.

And even worse, I just don't see any cool movies like the "Untouchables" or "The Godfather" being made about organized crime rings of fish black marketeers.

Ah, "Sweaty Teddy" calls 'em like he sees 'em. Gotta love that man, even if you don't always agree with him.

There are also more deer today in North America than probably ever existed.
