September 07, 2003John PrineHe's written a song about everything, and if you listen to music, you either love him, or you don't. But if you don't love at least ONE John Prine song, you need to be dragged off and shot. "Mr. Peabody's coal train done hauled it away." "Please don't bury me down in that cold, cold, ground" "There's a hole in Daddy's arm, where all the money goes" "You may see me tonight, with an illegal smile" "Where, oh where, is my sleepy-eyed boy?" "There's one red rose in the Bible, pressed between the holy alphabet" "I'm going to Maine on a 40' crane, gonna use it for a fishin' pole" "Jehosaphat, the neighbor's cat, jumped off the roof today, I could do this all day, but I've got higher priorities. I just thought I would end with a dead cat. John Prine writes good songs.

You forgot: Come back to us, Barbara Lewis Hari Krishna Beauregard I love JP!!! We've got all his albums/CDs. I have Robert to thank for turning me on to John Prine. The best one is Sam Stone. He had to live that to write lyrics like that. Life simply imitated art there, no question. Sam Stone was alone Sam Stone is one of my favorites...
