May 15, 2003good for him!We are rapidly becoming a nation of absolute wussies. A people who once pioneered the vast western wilderness, crossed the Rockies on foot and survived treks across Death Valley now suffer apoplexy over second-hand smoke and politically-incorrect words. How far we have fallen. Just read this, for example. We're told that during a recent dinner with about 30 political supporters at a downtown Washington steak house, DeLay walked out on his guests before dessert when the manager told him he could eat and drink but not puff. I don't patronize ANY restaurant where I can't smoke. The Bloombergs of the world do nothing but discourage business with their nanny-laws. I can always have a pizza delivered to my home. I like pizza. And I can smoke here, too.

Your last statement: exactly my point from the other day. Just because we want to do something doesn't always mean we should do it or -- if laws exist against it -- that we can do it. If we all followed our animal instincts, the laws and civility be damned, what kidn of world would it be? Well, at least a few people might be happy.
