May 13, 2003Blowing smokeAfter the New York Post published a story claiming that Mayor "Nanny" Bloomberg's smoking ban was costing bars and restaurants business, the I don't think that anybody seriously takes something on the front page of the New York Post that has to do with smoking as gospel or as good scholarship or good science. C'mon," Bloomberg said. "I mean they're going to make up stuff no matter what." And anti-smoking, nanny-types DON'T make stuff up no matter what? "I'm not trying to hurt anybody's opportunity to smoke. If you want to, you can do it. You just don't have the right to kill somebody else. That's what secondhand smoking does," Bloomberg said. Bullshit. Show me ONE legitimate study that demonstrates secondhand smoke ever killed ANYBODY. And DO NOT use that bogus, thoroughly-debunked EPA study which STILL is trumpeted by the anti-smoking storm troopers as gospel. Secondhand smoke may be an irritant to some, non-smokers might not like the smell, but the shit never killed anybody. And the fact that some pussy-assed people go "EWWWW!" when they smell a cigarette is no goddam reason for government to ban smoking in PRIVATE BUSINESSES, where the pussy-assed whiners have the choice NOT TO GO THERE if they can't handle cigarette smoke. "We would never tolerate in any working place asbestos or any other thing in the air that hurt people. This hurts people," he said. Asshole. Do you actually believe that you don't encounter asbestos every fucking day of your life? It hasn't been REMOVED FROM THE PLANET, you drooling fool. Do you fart? WELL, I DON'T WANT YOUR FARTS IN MY AIR! They hurt me. Stick a cork in your ass every time you go out in public so YOU spare MY delicate sensibilities, you blithering dickwit. The mayor said that more than 1,000 lives are going to be saved in the city from smoking-related diseases and that New Yorkers should be phenomenally proud. Give me a break. The New York Post just makes shit up? Mayor, you should be phenomenally proud of being a bigger liar than the Post.

Fix your link. You seemed to have gotten all worked up, face red, spittle going every which way, and fingers flying across the keyboard so fast that you forgot to end your HTML tag. In New York, you are much more likely to choke on the fumes of all those taxi cabs a buses going by. Posted by: Ravenwood on May 13, 2003 05:51 PMThe links work ,Sam. I just checked them both. I do some of mt BEST linking when all red-faced and spittle-spraying. Posted by: Acidman on May 13, 2003 06:06 PMOh, maybe those thousand deaths might occur sometime in the next ten thousand years...... Sorry, mayor, but it's the New York TIMES that makes shit up. Mayor, you fart from your face. Posted by: Ron on May 13, 2003 08:43 PMNew York City's air is actually pretty clean. Something to do with the bigass park in the middle of it. An order of magnitude cleaner than LA, anyway. Bloomberg is a tool. His ass will be bouncing down Broadway faster than you can say "IDIOT!@#" when his term is up. People voted him in due to Rudy's endorsement, an endorsement I'm sure he regrets. Posted by: Mr. Lion on May 13, 2003 08:46 PM*LOL As a New Yorker, avid bargoer and dedicated smoker, this law has proven to be a first class irritant. Restaurant takings are REALLY down, and anyone who says differently is blind. It's also a royal pain in the ass to have to excuse oneself from a conversation to go outside for a smoke, not to mention finding a friend or stranger to mind one's drink. Sidewalks near bar entrances are clogged with [guess who] smokers. Just yesterday I saw a sign on a bar window on 15th & 5th that asks smokers to be quiet outside, as residents have complained. Needless to say, my loathing of Nanny Mayor B is truly complete. You can suck up more foul air by crossing a Manhattan intersection behind a city bus than by smoking an entire pack, but curiously this is never mentioned....
